Britney's Big Comeback....?
Submitted by imaginary stella on September 10, 2007.Did anyone else catch Britney Spears' sub-par opening "performance" on last night's MTV VMA's? What a pile. I really wanted to see the poor girl pull off something awesome, but this was the most lackluster performance I have seen in a long time.
There was barely any movement or choreography, she was clearly lip-synching, and the song was simply boring. Her rumored beau, "illusionist" Criss Angel, was also supposedly a "collaborator" on the performance, though I couldn't see anything he'd have been involved in, making me think "collaboration" is indeed just what the kids are calling the hanky-panky these days. And sorry to be catty, but she didn't look all that good either. Who put her in that bikini?
Poor dear.
I can't find it yet on YouTube (maybe her "people" are monitoring and pulling any postings), but I'll keep looking.

Wow, it's bad. I caught it this morning while getting ready for work, and they just showed it on CNN while I was having lunch.
Where on earth were her people? Surely someone in the foodchain of her organization saw a rehearsal or something. If they weren't pulling the videos so rabidly, I would swear they did it on purpose to create a viral video situation.

I haven't expected anything worthwhile from her since..well, since she first came on the map.
Although I would like to see the video of said performance, so I know what the buzz is about.

The VMAs were all kinds of crazy - not just Britney. I missed the moment where Kid Rock and Tommy Lee went toe-to-toe, though I'm hoping that too will be on YouTube soon.

What I thought was weird though, was that for the first year, everyone else looked rather classy. It seems that the time for cheap stunts in pop music is over.

You make a really good point, greggoir! There was certainly an air of elegance. And I liked how they bounced from artist to artist, showing clips of their performances rather than lingering for the whole song. Sometimes I just don't wanna see the whole Maroon 5 song...though I wish they could've done that for Brit (I can't let it go!).

And, yeah, that was remarkably bad. I wasn't surprised that she lip synched (pretty much every performance of her I've seen she's obviously not singing), but I was shocked at how badly she did it. Yes, it was like high-school talent show.
And, not to get all down on the body image thing, but, hell, for someone who made a career simply out of the fact that she's really hot and not afraid to dance around in what amounts to underwear, she was looking pretty bedraggled.

ah. That was one of the worst performences I've seen... it belonged in my high school's talent show... not national tv. At first I thought it was on purpose... It didn't occur to me someone could perform Soo0o bad and be a pop star. She managed to pull in a ton of viewers and publicity. I don't know what she was thinking by putting that outfit on. She looked like a cheap stripper.. when I mean cheap.. I mean she didn't get tipped very much.
