Tonight in Seattle:

Free Visqueen show this Thursday afternoon in downtown Seattle

Visqueen, photo by Kaley DavisIf this isn't just the kinda news to get you through a gray, dreary Monday, I don't know what is: Seattle band Visqueen will be playing a free show this Thursday (8/23) at noon at the Seattle City Hall Plaza (700 Fifth Avenue, Seattle).

Also on the bill is Carolyn Mark, a singer-songwriter from Canada known for her dry, memorable story-telling as a solo artist, as well as being Neko Case's other half in the band the Corn Sisters.

Could this be a positive use of our tax dollars...?

The forecast is for sunny(er) skiies, so plan to pack a lunch sack and go rock out during your lunch hour!

This is gonna be AMAZING!

2 of my favorites in one place! I am super stoked to catch the shows and their banter between songs which is hilarious! I never dreamed when I saw them back to back at SXSW that I would have a chance to repeat the experience for FREE!

Carolyns new record "Nothing is Free" is her best work yet and is already released in Canada and will be out here on 9/18. Maybe she will have copies at the show?!?!?

That's pretty awesome.

Joe Riippi and I are emailing now about being there together ... possibly a quintessential TIG columnist show ... !

Oh wow, is Joe in town?? I am really hoping to squeeze away from dayjob for a smidge of time to catch this show. It should be truly awesome.

Am indeed in town for a few days. High school friend's wedding in Puyallup Friday. May be at the Visqueen, trying to figure out schedules and so on. Most likely will be there.

I may be there, too. Maybe this is a good time for a group photo.

I'm going to be there too! A friend and I thought of spending the day downtown :] I think a group photo is a grand idea

I think I'll be there too! We can photo it up!

This seals the deal - I've got to be there too!!

Can't believe I'll be stuck on the wrong side of the water while all this imaginary goodness is going down.

But that's ok, because the company I'm contracting for is hosting a certain Northwest indie sensation as part of their (otherwise-unannounced) weekly summer concert series that very afternoon...
