Bets, you know the way to my heart! I love me some PJ, but I have never understood a lick of what Ed's saying on this song. In fact I was just listening to this at the gym last week, pondering this very question!
I think the reason this song is so popular in the live-setting is the marble-mouth lyrics (anyone can sing along! just make up words!), aided by McCready's awesome Hendrixy guitar sound that echoes so beautifully across many a concert hall/outdoor stage (ahem, Gorge!).
But regardless of popularity, this YouTube vid has it nailed. The wizard! Mona! Anna Nicole! PJ were so ahead of their time when they penned this, they didn't even know...

Yay! I know, the Anna Nicole part had me rolling. I almost used it as the blog post title, but I wanted to allow my imaginary friends the experience of discovery.
I hope this MisheardLyricsGuy makes more videos. Totally cracks me the shit up.
