Sunday night live show check-in...

Friday night I caught a fabulous lineup of local pop bands strutting their stuff as well as some covers in front of a rowdy crowd at the Sunset. A personal highlight: hearing Dept of Energy cover "Unsalted Butter" by the Long Winters. Positively dreamy!

And while I wasn't lucky enough to get tickets for the Saturday night by the National show at Neumos, I did walk by and eavesdrop for a few minutes, and they sound absolutely incredible.

How about all of you? Anyone see a good show this weekend? Anyone see a shitty one? Tell us all about it...

I went all the way to NYC Friday night (that's four hours each way) to see the Vinyl Skyway and Nicole Atkins at the Living Room. The Vinyl Skyway were so effing awesome, and Nicole Atkins was so effing not there. No joke, she didn't show. I think I'm breaking up with her over this.

I took photos and videos of the whole journey (I traveled down by car with Dave Lieb, Vinyl Skyway keyboardist, and back by 3am train with Michael Hayes, Vinyl Skyway singer/guitarist/songwriter). When I get the time to sort through my footage and stuff I'll post some. It's likely I won't actually get said free time until I'm in Seattle. Hooray vacation!

(Also this weekend saw B for Brontosaurus, Wild Light, Reports and Spouse.)

Femurs CD Release Show!

After the Ice Age Cobra In Store @ Easy Street, I headed up the hill to catch the boys at the Comet, and boy was I gald I did! The new record is tasty stuff and hearing it live with the extra enthusiasm of a CD release was quite a way to start the weekend.
