New Wolf Parade album?

Can't wait for a new Wolf Parade album? (Me neither.) But you're going to have to. According to Subpop, Wolf Parade won't have a new album out till the "first half of 2008."

In the meantime, look into these two Wolf Parade side projects: Handsome Furs, and Sunset Rubdown.

WP vocalists have taken their talents in two different directions. Dan Boeckner has teamed up with Alexei Perry to form Handsome Furs; and Spencer Krug has teamed up with folks to create Sunset Rubdown. Check out www.myspace.com/spencerkrug to hear a reworked version of "I'll believe in Anything," (my personal favorite Wolf Parade song).

Look for reviews of both of these albums here on TIG in the near future.

Can we place a moratorium on bands with "wolf" in their name? I know that I like Wolfmother, but that's enough. If I start liking more "Wolf" bands, I'll get confused and I'll just be encouraging more bands to take "wolf" names.

Except for Steaming Wolf Penis. I forgot about them.

Don't worry, those flood of wolf names was over a couple years ago, it's equine-related names that's hot right now (I write as I stare at an ad for the new Ponys CD, listening to Band of Horses).

It seems Sea Wolf has also noticed the abundance of wolf bands in the world. They've compiled a list of quit a few of them on the 'influences' section of their Myspace page.

Surprisingly there are a lot more than I would have thought.
