Tonight in Seattle:

Knocked Up?

The song "Knocked Up" from the new Kings of Leon record, Because of the Times, is on KEXP right now.

I hate this fucking song. Can anyone explain to me why there's anything redeeming about it whatsoever?

{And note: I was the imaginary girl who really liked the last Kings of Leon record!!}

As the imaginary girl who has always disliked the Kings of Leon offerings and questioned why folks flipped for their hippy, alt-whatever sound, I say "Welcome to my world!"

I like the intro and the bass line, but "I don't care what nobody says we're gonna have a baby" makes it kind of tough to listen to. I'm holding back judgment on this album until the show on the 2nd, but it certainly doesn't grab me like the last one. That being said, the more I listen to it the catchier it gets.

It's no "The Bucket", I'll tell you that much.

Sock it to em Liz! Yeah, those boys and their nonesense have no place on my I-Pod (currently this record can be found in my "to trade" or giveaway pile)

"I'm gonna be her lu-vah!"

Crap crap crap. Hate it. Gives me the willies.

Luckily this song is NOT appearing in the new Judd Apatow film of the same name.

(FYI, according to this article, the eagerly anticipated film's title track, plus 5 other songs, will be contributed by Apatow regular Loudon Wainwright.)
