Bumbershoot 2007: Fleet Foxes Interview

Uhm, talk about an appropriately named band, that Robin Pecknold is a fox. But I better not say that since my boyfriend is sitting nearby [and also videotaped this interview...]

I think my banter with Fleet Foxes is some of my favorite out of the weekend. They were really having a conversation with me, rather than tense "interview talk" that people fall into when they know they're being recorded. I also thoroughly enjoyed their set later on in the afternoon at the EMP Sky Church.

{Imaginary correspondent elle was an interviewing machine at Bumbershoot 2007, and Three Imaginary Girls is proud to present loads of her video interviews with some of your favorite bands from the Pacific Northwest, including Viva Voce, Aqueduct, the Trucks, and more! Bravo, Rachel! All these interviews are fabulous!

Overrated hipster nonsense.

wow, you really took the time to go through the TIG archives, and find this article just so you could make some negative comment? man, you really must be bored out of your mind.

the fact is, whether you like the fleet foxes music or not, there is no denying just how talented this band is. it can be debated till your blue in the face, if they are overrated or not. hipster? i don't think so. i don't see the same people who you may see dancing at sing sing (no hate here), attending fleet foxes concerts. i'm sorry, i just don't and you're wrong.

you also can't hate a band that becomes successful. i would think a band who has toured as much as they have, (six months of almost straight touring with three weeks off?) deserves a little success. and being invited to play the late show and conan? man, what a total bummer.

because a band gets famous and gains a lot of fans, isn't their fault. they don't become any less of a good or talented band because of it. if you don't like the music, fine. but why must you and a lot of others on the "i hate the fleet foxes" band wagon, cut a band down with smarmy comments? do you know them personally? have ever took the time to befriend them or talk to them? my guess is no.

i have read so many fucked up things in the comments on this site, from attacking fleet foxes' music, to slandering them as individuals. they're real people. they lead normal lives. they work hard to make rent. they have feelings. eat, sleep and shit just like you. well, maybe just not like you.. seeing how your shit doesn't stink, stays in your head and falls from your mouth.

here is a suggestion. leave the confines of your parents basement and go enjoy the snow. get a drink, go for jog, start an art project, anything. just stop wasting your time hating bands like the fleet foxes, who happen to bring a lot of people joy.

Wow, this reply was right on, I loved it. It was almost as if it came from one of the Fleet Foxes album covers,(inside writings).

I caught the performance of Fleet Foxes on SNL and immediately went on-line and ordered all of their CD's.

If word of mouth can make someone soar, (even higher than they already are),then I am adding feathers to their wings.

They are an incredibly talented band and I am looking forward to their 2009 album release.
