at El Corazon

It was an odd and very gratifying experience to be there with people from all walks and ages of life, coming together in support and love of an old favorite.

The Zombies play Seattle(!)...at El Corazon(?)

The Zombies, best known for their influential 1968 classic, Odyssey & Oracle, have promised a tour and retrospective release in celebration of the album's 40th birthday.

Thoughts of a tour began when four of the five members (Rod Argent, Colin Blunstone, Chris White and Hugh Grundy) banded together for a three-night concert series in London this past March.

So where does this tour stop? The Paramount right? Maybe the Moore? Perhaps the Triple Door? No. The legendary Zombies are playing El Corazon.

Packing into that hole in the wall is either going to feel like a genuine 40-year flashback or a sad reminder of how a 20-something like yours truly is only fooling themselves into thinking that they weren't born into the wrong decade.

Don't get me wrong, seeing the Zombies at that small venue will be legendary, but doesn't a band of such stature deserve something a little better? The place books high school acts, screamo, and AC/DC cover bands (I'm looking at you Hell's Belles) about every other night.

Maybe it's time to get over my snobby venue self and take up what seems like one heck of a concert opportunity. I can only imagine the ticket prices...

Here's some Northwest dates

07/23/08 Portland, OR Wonder Ballroom
07/24/08 Seattle, WA El Corazon
07/25/08 Langley, BC (Vancouver) Cascades Casino
