"We do the weird stuff!"
OMG, you guys. I missed this the last time around and I am SO EXCITED that it's come back! Just to catch you up (in case you don't know what the hell Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is), back in 2008 during the WGA writer's strike, Joss Whedon wrote an awesome musical tragicomedy web series starring the equally awesome Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day and Nathan Fillion.
It's so popular with Whedonphiles (AKA: Browncoats...*coughcough* that's my nerd showing) that a bunch of peeps all over decided to rework it as a play, and LUCKY US - The Balagan Theater is putting it on at ACT in Seattle from January 28-February 12!!!!
For a small taste, check out the trailer for the web series here to get ready for the play. I'm betting tickets are going to be scarce, if not sold out, soon - so grab them while you can and get ready to laugh, cry, and you know, probably sing-along.

Tonight, Wednesday 11/17, my friends over at The Beta Society are putting on a show that could potentionally rival the ever-popular Salon of Shame called E-mails from My Parents.
Rather than read your own embarassing journals, why not share the most embarassing e-mails, voice mails, or even videos from your parents? I mean, they've embarassed you enough, right? Why not turn the tables?
Head over to Central Cinema from 7-8:30pm tonight and experience dramatic re-enactments of parental tomfoolery, live readings of e-mail, and actual videos from the 'rents. I can't think of a better thing to do on a rainy, cold night - can you? Tix are $7 at the door, and the usual CC food & drink menu will be available.

So I pulled up this press release today intending to write about The Return of Slashacre and how awesome I think it's going to be when I zeroed in on this flier's photo of Andras Jones and made a HOLYSHIT discovery: I met this guy at a friend's birthday party last week, totally thinking to myself that he looked really familiar the whole time, and now (inside my head, thankfully) I'm like; "Omgoomgomgomg OMG that guy is Rick, the martial arts boyfriend in Nightmare in Elm Street 4: The Dream Master!!!!" It's probably a good thing I didn't realize this while talking to him, or my Elm street fangirl mode would have kicked in and the guy would have thought I was a complete idiot, droning on about Freddy and dream powers and how did you wield those weapons so expertly anyway?* Not that Renny Harlin's entry in the series is some kind of masterpiece, but it's still ridiculous enough to be highly entertaining.

Gina Young's newest play, Salt Water, is playing at the Live Girls! Theater in Ballard later this month.

I guess what it comes down to is that everyone can relate to not getting laid, I just didn't like being reminded of that reality.
Latest comment by: Chris Estey: "Spot on, Grim. And Chris B., thanks for enduring this so we'll never have to. You detailed the failures of both the "idea" behind this and its execution perfectly, it seems."
So there's this traveling country musician from Kentucky playing two shows at CHAC this weekend, and I feel compelled to tell you about her.

The Seattle Repertory Theatre's Emerging Critics Circle is an education program that gives aspiring writers from middle schools and high schools around the Puget Sound region opportunities to see plays, talk to local critics about them, and hone their critical writing skills.
