of Montreal Listening Party

{ed note: originally posted 7/27 -- but it's this Saturday! Let this serve as a reminder that it's time to get rollin'!}

Join us on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 5pm-7pm as get a sneak listen to False Priest, the new of Montreal record that wont hit the stores until September 14 (on Polyvinyl).

And this isn't just any old listening party, it's a radtastical roller skating par-tay at the Lynnwood Bowl & Skate and is going to include a room dedicated to double dutch jump rope (courtesy of Double Dutch Empire), a costume contest (dress up as your favorite of Montreal stage character or band member) with prizes to see of Montreal (Paramount Theatre on October 27) and prize packs from Polyvinyl Records.

There will be a $7 cover (includes roller skate rental!!!) and the event is all ages (bar w/ ID). Of course, as with any respectable outing involving the hokey pokey, the bar will have drink specials.

Sasquatch 2009 Wrap-Up: Day 2

at The Gorge

I'm from Texas and all, but sitting on a rock in 85 degree heat with no shade, clouds or wind isn't my idea of completely awesome. Especially when after all that I walk back to the sticky hot tent to drink and then pass out in my sleeping bag, only to await the next day of the same. So that's my excuse for missing Calexico (but my amigo Sam caught them and wrote about it ). On with St. Vincent!

IG Shrie's Top Ten Plus Plus!

2008 was an interesting musical, and personal, year for me. I listened to a lot of indie rock, electronica and went to a shit-ton of shows (one of which was the best I've ever seen, thanks Of Montreal).

Of Montreal take it up a notch with custom packaging

Of Montreal certainly know how to get our attention. First Kevin Barnes bares it all in Vegas in 2007, now the band has a scheme to out do any Radiohead special limited edition box set extravaganza ever!
