If you are a fan of the funk-psychedelic feminista sci-fi epics of local duo THEESatisfaction, you probably can’t wait until the awE naturalE release show at Neumo’s on March 29. And now you don’t have to! THEESatisfaction are playing two daytime sets {11 am and 1 pm} for Town Hall's Saturday Family Concerts.
On Saturday, February 18, Stasia Irons and Catherine Harris-White are bringing their positive, feminist energy with the warmth and depth of Black Jazz and Sunday morning soul to the next generation. They only have a few DJ sets scheduled locally between now and their release show, and they’ll be touring Europe in April -- so this could be your last chance to see them play live for a while. Best part? You’ll have plenty of time for dinner before heading down the hill to see The Presidents of the United States at the Showbox.
So, pack up the kiddies and head to Town Hall for an intergenerational hour of live music. And if you don’t have kids, borrow some: tickets are only $5 for adults with children, but unaccompanied adults pay $25.
Tickets to THEESatisfaction and other Family Concerts are available online.
Team imaginary has been counting down to the Magnetic Fields Town Hall two-night residency for months and months... and the wait is finally over. Tonight kicks off their massive double fantasy of Fields-ness and to prepare we've been working on converting our overt joy to somber nods as to not scare those on stage.
Who else in the imaginary circle is headed out to the big show?
Any thoughts on the new album? I have to say I agree with this recent posting on the Tullycraft blog about the similarity of a certain song.
By the way, want to be the luckiest guy on the lower east side with a poster of this artwork on your wall? Mark Gamble, an amazing co.uk designer, has printed a limited run of his above design and he might just have a few left! Thanks to ChrisB and How Fucking Romantic for finding it!
PS - Mark Eitzel is opening so get there early to catch the whole show. It's what Claudia would want you to do.

As imaginary keenan reported last week, there's a new Magnetic Fields album headed our way on January 26, 2010 {thanks to Nonesuch Records}. And as we speculated {and crossed all our fingers for}, the band will hit the road in support of Realism in February and March!

Seattle's avant-pop/punk-jazz innovator Jherek Bischoff knows how to throw a 30th birthday paty for himself -- and put on a great big show for us!
Bischoff, of The Dead Science, Parenthetical Girls, Ribbons, 30th Birthday Concert is taking place at Seattle's Town Hall on Friday, September 11th. The show will feature a 40-piece orchestra, playing 13 compositions.
On July 3rd, Jason Webley will mark his eleventh anniversary as one of Seattle’s most committed troubadours. From his beginnings as a local street performer known for his playful, theatrical, participatory performances to touring the world, becoming a minor celebrity in Russia and playing with big name artists like The Dresden Dolls, Regina Spektor and DeVotchKa, Webley has forged a singular path as a musician, remaining fiercely independent and taking on challenges and opportunities that more standard bands might scoff at.
To celebrate, he is throwing a blow out show at Town Hall featuring a jaw-dropping cornucopia of the various performers he has ever collaborated with, from the Dresden Dolls’ Amanda Palmer to Rev. Peyton (of Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band) to poet Jay Thompson to local music luminary Jerek Bischoff to Balkan-inspired brass and drum band Orkestar Zirkonium.
Three Imaginary Girls writer Bill Bullock sat down with Webley recently to talk about how he got started, how he got to where he’s at, why his eleventh anniversary is so important to him, the joys of musical collaboration and a whole host of other subjects.

Latest comment by: keenan: "Thanks, Dana! If the complainers really want to hear Stephin being snarky, they should listen to his in-studio from KEXP (found on the streaming archive, aired March 11th at 3pm). Poor guy had a cold but still performed beautifully. Still, it was an incredibly ...
