Last spring local rockers the Boss Martians found themselves in the enviable position of opening for the legendary Stooges. Amazingly, they made the most of their experience by persuading head Stooge Iggy Pop to write a song with them and sing on it for a track on the forthcoming Pressure in the S.O.D.O..
According to the band's MySpace blog, Iggy just finished his vocals for "Mars is for Martians". From the band's blog (posted last Tuesday):
HEY - just got back from recording Iggy's vocal parts on "Mars is for Martians" (the song he wrote with us for the new Boss Martians album "Pressure in the S.O.D.O.") It sounds so killer!!! Iggy is nothing short of a ROCK POWERHOUSE and it was a mindblowing experience (and an honor) to work with him on this track. I'll be mixing the track with Endino this Sunday, so stop by the Martians MySpace late next week for a preview!!! THANK YOU IGGY!!! More release news soon...
I, for one, can't wait to hear how the final product sounds.
Why aren't there more pop songs about snacks, or candy, or treats? I had a hard time generating a Top 10 Songs about Sweets list, but I've done my best and here they are!

Latest comment by: imaginary dana: "Hey, "Candy" was one of the names suggested for our baby girl, after this song!!! Good timing. "
File this away under "bizarre headlines I never thought I'd read."

Wow, I haven't heard mention of this up until now... but it's official Barsuk Records will be releasing the soundtrack to the motion picture Kurt Cobain About A Son on September 11th, 2007.
Latest comment by: imaginary char: "I just saw this movie (it was at SIFF). It was so-so. We did have a discussion premovie about what band has had the most movies made about them? Does anyone have any guesses before I attempt to google it?"
A good pal just emailed me that she has several extra pairs of tickets for the Stooges show TONIGHT and she doesn't want them to go to waste.
So email her ASAP and say you saw this post on TIG to claim a pair. First come, first serve!
Wahoo for free tickets!!!
Go pay your respects. And double-check to make sure you haven't forgotten earplugs.
Latest comment by: imaginary dana: "That's true -- but that new Kings of Leon record sucks it (in my humble imaginary opinion, of course). Hard. So that should make your Wednesday night choice easier."
Time for the weekly "As Seen On TV" post! There's something every night that makes it worth programming your VCR.

Latest comment by: Erik Gonzalez: "Too bad he never followed his obvious career path into kids shows after being on The Adventures of Pete & Pete, although he still didn't hold a candle to Michael Stipe's "Captain Scrummy" on that show. (And heck, Kate Pierson of the B-52s was on it too...Sigh.)"
