You know that point when your iTunes gets so filled up with awesome stuff that you can't possibly listen to everything that's in there with any kind of regularity? Where, like, you put it on shuffle and then you hear a song and you're all, "OHHHH right, I love this song! But I forgot about it!" Right.
Well, that's been happening to me lately and there's so much good stuff I want to share, I thought I'd just go ahead and create a mixtape for y'all. Enjoy!
"Nothing Really Happened" - Math and Physics Club
"So Caroline" - The Posies
"Lonelily" - Damien Rice
"The Kids We Used to Be" - Phineas and The Lonely Leaves
"Do It Better" - Imperial Teen
"If It Was (A Matter of Mind)" - The Rave-Ups
"Hold On" - Yellow Ostrich
"The Two Sides of Monsieur Valentine" - Spoon
"Run" - Ben Kweller
"Closet Cutter" - Mike Viola
"Sigh" - Verlee for Ransom
"Connection" - The Brunettes
Play this mixtape on Spotify.
{I once again tried to include an iTunes link, but sadly only 9 of the 13 songs are available on there. auuuuggghhh}
So... what songs have popped up on your shuffle lately that you're suddenly loving again?

Josh! It's like you KNOW me. Yes, yes, yes, and yes.
"On the off chances that 1) anyone cares what their friendly neighborhood imaginary film and theater critic thinks about the year's music releases, and 2) anyone is doing anything at all during the dead 'tween-holidays week, much less reading top-ten lists, here are my favorite albums of the year, alpha by artist:
My films-of-the-year feature (coming early '08) will be far more compelling. Promise.

Actually, in my world it is Imperial Teen Day, but in my perfect world it would be a holiday and banks would close, mail wouldn't be delivered, and everyone would be paid to stay home from work - like Thanksgiving, but with worse food and better music.
It's not everyday that the creators of my favorite record of the year come to Seattle and play two (TWO!) shows this evening. The first is a free in-store show at the Queen Anne Easy Street Records at 8pm followed by a show at the Crocodile with Bella and Derby.
Here's a video the band made in 1999 for its song "Yoo Hoo" that is about 75 different shades of awesome:
Latest comment by: michael: "The best thing about that clip (out of several things) is the appearance of Jancee Dunn at the beginning. Anybody read her book "But Enough About Me: A Jersey Girl's Unlikely Adventures Among the Absurdly Famous"?"
Latest comment by: rockshelly: "Everyone's familiar with loving a band and eventually hating their "new album." Imperial Teen is a band that just doesn't follow that rule. Don't get me wrong, Seasick was their best album by ccsp. But The Hair, the TV, the Baby, & the Band has everything you ...
