As we round out our week of favorite lists and recaps of the last year and decade, I have to share one last highlight from 2009. We all have one video from the last year that we keep going back to when we're feeling down or to start a thread amongst our friends. My go-to clip of 2009 came courtesy of Halloween and the Today show. The entire video is a gem (mayhem on the set!), but if you want to jump to the 3.50 mark to see some fancy moonwalking and the 4.10 mark, just watching an ewok have his way Al Roker's leg. I love folks when great music taste and extra time futz around with iMovie. Thank you fanella55! You did a great job putting one of my favorite Fishboy songs ("Proper Name Spelling Bee") to digital video.

I recently saw someone do this sort of thing with a Tullycraft song; OldFlat24 set "The Punks Are Writing Love Songs" to scenes from High School Musical and it's rad! Sure, this is the first I've seen of HSM, but it looks pretty Degrassi cool when edited to three minutes).

Have you seen any more examples of this? Please link / post away. Could this be the downfall of MTV? Or an underground rebirth of the early days of 120 Minutes splendor?

New Vivian Girls video: Moped Girls

This video to the recently-added-to-Bumbershoot Vivian Girls' song "Moped Girls" was filmed in Seattle when the band was here last month to play at Neumo's. It is a really cool video to a really cool song. It was recorded by local filmmaker Brady Hall.

Do you belive in magic? To hell with David Blaine, there is real magic in the spindly legs of one Mr. Jarvis "I am 6 feet of of filthy personified" Cocker.

His video for "Angela," a single off of his new album Further Complications is now available for your viewing pleasure. This footage is part of the "Jarvis is Making an Exhibition of Himself" week long band practice last week in Paris. This man moves like nothing I have ever seen. Sometimes it looks sexy, sometimes it looks awkward, sometimes it looks painful, but it always looks like Jarvis, which is to say, like an English professor who has dogeared copies of Marquis de Sade, Henry Miller, and DH Lawrence laying about with the dirty parts highlighted.

The dubbing in the first part doesn't quite match up, but eventually it catches itself. The handclapping on the side of the building is charming, n'est ce pas?
