We have already recommended one amazing Halloween show option with Hey Marseilles and Fences at the Columbia City Theater, but if you can't make it to CCT or are nervous that your costume will not be up to snuff for a true Halloween show, might I suggest Joseph Giant (Final Spins, Pearly Gate Music and Throw Me The Statue) at the Blue Moon. There will undoubtable be a few folks in costume (I'm going as Ishmael from Moby-Dick), but more likely the Blue Moon will be warm and full of friendly folks, drinking beer (bring cash) and ignoring the ghostly aberrations of the night with Josephs' folky, feel good, country tracks. Joining Joe will be Charles Leo Gebhardt IV (Yes!) and battle hymns.
As if you needed more incentive, below are a few photos I was able to snap at the last Joseph Giant show in Ballard! These boys rock.
Latest comment by: Michelle: "This is my favorite music in Seattle right now. Final Spins were, and now this. Love it. Glad you finally posted about him!"

This weekend, some of Seattle's best music websites (and even better friends) are celebrating their birthdays and they've got your weekend booked with fantastic shows that showcase the talent and diversity of the Northwest. Back Beat Seattle is turning one on Friday and Ear Candy is celebrating it's birthday with what its founder, editor, chief, etc... Travis Hay calls "Ear Candy's Weekend of Awesome" and has shows Saturday and Sunday night at different clubs. Also quite thrilling: Dagmar and Amelia from Back Beat and Travis from Ear Candy have all written for TIG before starting their own flourishing websites.
Back Beat's show is Friday at the Blue Moon and it features Blood Red Dancers, THEESatisfaction and What What Now. It all goes down starting at 10pm and you'll need $5 and ID proving you're at or over 21 to get in the door.

Here's what I like in a holiday party: being around people I like, listening to good music in a legendary bar with plenty of alcohol. Everything else is a bonus.
Fortunately, our friends from Back Beat Seattle must believe the same thing because they're putting on a really great show tonight (Friday, December 18) at the Blue Moon. The lineup features Gabe Mintz (who I saw and enjoyed at the Give Seattle benefit a few weeks ago at the Crocodile), Ben Harwood (the former bassist from Iceage Cobra who is going solo now) and Lesli Wood from The Redwood Plan (who'll be rocking our holiday party five days later). All of this holiday cheer will cost you just five dollars and starts at 9pm.
I caught three great shows this weekend - and there were so many others going on all over town it was difficult to decide which ones to attend. Here's where I ended up...
