Tomorrow {Tuesday, December 21} at 1p PST we can listen in as Belle & Sebastian perform live in the band's hometown of Glasgow from the legendary Barrowland. The entire performance will be webcast live (as it is happening!) and promises to include long-lost fan favorites, songs from this year’s Write About Love, and some holiday-themed funtimes.
The concert can be viewed at www.npr.org/BelleHoliday and www.theguardian.co.uk.
Let's make it a very twee Christmas!
Be still my Scottish-loving heart. One of my favorite bands --the kind I have flown over oceans to see-- Idlewild is coming to Seattle and will be at The Crocodile on November 20, 2010.
I'm still processing this and already trying to calculate when I need to arrive at the Crocodile that night in order to secure a spot right up front... so more info and giddy schoolgirl exclamations to come, but for right now, let's all practice our chants of "A pure like it!" and "A loue ye!"
Are you with me? Any other shows you're counting down to?
{major thanks to Steve for making me aware of this awesome news}

For over 20 years, Trashcan Sinatras have been providing us with moody, jangly guitar rock (think Smiths, Orange Juice, Luna) from their home in Glasgow. Even though their previous album Weightlifting was their most successful to date, they promised something different this time around - In The Music, their fifth studio album, will supposedly feature happy love songs. Unfortunately, their North American distribution deal fell apart at the last minute, so tonight is your best chance to hear those new songs for at least a few more months. I can't offer up much on the opening band Brookville, except that it's the side project of Ivy's Andy Chase, so expect electronic indie pop but without Dominique Durand's voice layered over the top.
It's a Monday night, but since it's at The Triple Door (a perfect underground respite from the sun, with incredible acoustics), the show starts at 7:30.
The video for possibly their most popular single, "Hayfever", is below. Three minutes of pop perfection.
Besides tuckering me out, last night's Harry Potter IMAX movie made me long for the days of wandering of past holidays spent wandering Britain's streets from record store to striking monument to historical Britpop landmark. It's got me feeling sentimental... and look what I found!
Latest comment by: diana: "i can't remember if i've ever mentioned them, but check out London's Stars of Aviation -- i came across them randomly one night at a bar in London, sadly though they have never toured the US and probably aren't going to in the near future "
