You know that point when your iTunes gets so filled up with awesome stuff that you can't possibly listen to everything that's in there with any kind of regularity? Where, like, you put it on shuffle and then you hear a song and you're all, "OHHHH right, I love this song! But I forgot about it!" Right.
Well, that's been happening to me lately and there's so much good stuff I want to share, I thought I'd just go ahead and create a mixtape for y'all. Enjoy!
"Nothing Really Happened" - Math and Physics Club
"So Caroline" - The Posies
"Lonelily" - Damien Rice
"The Kids We Used to Be" - Phineas and The Lonely Leaves
"Do It Better" - Imperial Teen
"If It Was (A Matter of Mind)" - The Rave-Ups
"Hold On" - Yellow Ostrich
"The Two Sides of Monsieur Valentine" - Spoon
"Run" - Ben Kweller
"Closet Cutter" - Mike Viola
"Sigh" - Verlee for Ransom
"Connection" - The Brunettes
Play this mixtape on Spotify.
{I once again tried to include an iTunes link, but sadly only 9 of the 13 songs are available on there. auuuuggghhh}
So... what songs have popped up on your shuffle lately that you're suddenly loving again?

Dear lovers of The Posies and Jon Auer's brilliant solo tunes - I have the perfect holiday gift idea for you! On Wednesday, December 21, Mr. Auer will be singing and playing an acoustic show at Volterra in their cozy, private Drawing Room. This intimate concert only has 60 tickets available, and there are two levels of Auer-esque bliss:
$30 gets you a seat
$100 gets you reserved seating, + a meet-and-greet with Jon before the show, with light appetizers & wine courtesy of Volterra! A portion of these VIP tickets will benefit SIFF too - AWESOME.
(I know which pair of tickets I'd like to recieve!!)
It's no secret that I'm a huge Posies fan - and I've sung my heart out to many a Jon solo show over the years, because THIS GUY IS THE BOMB. Plus, DJ Marco Collins is going to spin some tunes for guests before Jon takes the stage!!! And Volterra is one of my favorite places to eat and drink at. I can't think of a better way to ring in the holidays, can you?

It is clearly no secret that I love The Posies. But honestly, guys - if you have never seen them play live (which seems impossible if you've lived in Seattle for more than a year), you should head out to the Capitol Hill Block Party on Sunday to see them take the main stage at 3:30pm. These guys are the real deal - an awesomely rockin' local band that's more than earned the term LEGENDS. They consistently put on a good show, and they will (excuse the cliche term) rock your frickin' socks off. For reals!
Go go go go go go GO.

We’ve been through a lot together, The Posies and I. Graduating high school and college, getting married (and then getting divorced), losing and finding myself multiple times, so many drinks I can’t count, and more tears, laughter, pain and happiness than I ever thought was possible when I first popped that freshly unwrapped Failure cassette tape into my boom box.
Through all of it, I’ve caught as many live Posies shows as I could, and each one has been amazing in its own way: from standing so close to the (old) Croc’s speakers that I could literally FEEL the music, to swaying in tandem with an appreciative crowd as Jon & Ken acoustically blew our faces off with their awesome harmonies.
The show Saturday night at The Showbox belongs on the list of the best Posies shows I’ve ever been to. Following a rockin’ set (in which Jon and Ken played) with Brendan Benson (I sadly missed Aqueduct entirely), The Posies took the stage to several enthusiastic cheers—and rightly so.

If you were going to see Fountains of Wayne next week at the Triple Door and were thinking "you know, I really like opener Jon Auer an awful lot and want to see more of him in that venue", the Triple Door heard your pleas and added another show with just Auer two nights later, on January 17.
