How neat is it that Meg White not only married in the surely beautiful Nashville southern belle of a home of Jack White (bandmate, ex-husband) but she's hitched herself to Jackson Smith (son of Fred and Patti Smith) in a double wedding ceremony.
The other couple hitched in the ceremony: Jack Lawrence, the bass player in the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather, and his girlfriend Jo McCaughey.
It's been a while since I've heard of a double wedding ceremony, but good for them combining resources and making things easy on the out of town guests. Didn't Marcia and Jan Brady have a double ceremony? Or was it someone on the Love Boat?
Did anyone catch a Mega Prego Meg on one of the goodbye NYC Conan shows a while back? I can't find it on YouTube anywhere... but needless to say she was exceedingly cute. I know that some of you are unable to fully love her because of her drumming "style" -- but I am all about the Meg and wish her tons of love and happiness with her new Jack.

From M.I.A's "Kala" to Radiohead's "In Rainbows" and every musical tidbit in between, XL Recordings has released a cavalcade of music in the last year or so. Obviously, they're real darn excited over at XL, because they've put out a compilation, "08/09", of tracks they've been tinkering with and some they are prepping for release later this year.
Highlights include the oft-overplayed (hello KEXP) Peter Gabriel/Hot Chip collab, who render Vampire Weekend's "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" into a much more enjoyable form than it's original, and the surprising soulfulness of the Raconteurs "Many Shades of Black" with Adele at the vocal helm. Damon Albarn's new endeavour with Jamie Hewlett, Monkey, also has a track on this comp. "Heavenly Peach Banquet" is surprisingly delicate and enchanting, like an emotionally stable Coco Rosie or a more youthful, playful Air.
Latest comment by: Nicolas: "Fantastic. New Damon Albarn! AND it's based around my most favorite story ever."
Looks like Ticketswest.com just released a few more tickets to tonight's sold out show at Neumo's.
Remember when we heard about Jack White calling up some DJs in Chicago and chewing them out for playing the White Stripes' last record, Icky Thump, before it was released?
Well, now that the Raconteurs' newest album, Consolers of the Lonely, has found its way on to some of the internets, it looks like it might be time for Mr. White to make another angry phone call... to Steve Jobs.
SezĀ Maura Johnston at Idolator:
Looks like the iTunes Store accidentally leaked the Raconteurs' Consolers Of The Lonely a few days before its Tuesday release--reports are filtering in from people who successfully purchased the album on both the US and UK versions of the iTunes store, and it's apparently popping up on the peer-to-peer services as well. (In the interest of reporting, I tried buying the record, only to be greeted with a "This album is no longer available" message.) Who among us would not love to be listening in on that angry phone call from Jack White?
I'll make this quick because I'm off in Oregon working working working but ...
The semi-supergroup, the Raconteurs, made of Jack White and Brendan Benson among others, announced that they will be releasing their new album, Consolers of the Lonely, next week.
Yup, the band will be releasing an entire disc of new material on all formats on March 25.
Jeepers!
{Hat tip to NME for letting us know.}
Latest comment by: randy: "Looks like it sold out in presale (unless more tix are going to be available on Saturday). Glad I got mine at 10:05. I've never seen the White Stripes live, but this should be almost as good, maybe better, and in a small venue. I'm excited. "
Latest comment by: ChrisB: "P4K has the poster for this year's lineup. Hmmm...maybe I'll just have to go there instead of to SXSW. Aside from Friday, which is pretty crap-tastic, I think the lineup looks pretty solid. "
This just in from NME: The Raconteurs have collaborated with The Hives on their new album.
Time for the weekly "As Seen On TV" post! There's something every night that makes it worth programming your VCR.
