Guess I missed the notice that pom-poms and wraps in 70's era colors were this season's fashion must-haves.

This is interesting. The most watched video on YouTube right now is a fan-made video of "Music is My Hot, Hot Sex" by Sub Pop's Brazillian dance punks Cansei de Ser Sexy, or CSS. It has gotten almost 90 million plays.
90 million? Really? I love CSS an awful lot but that doesn't seem possible - even with a bunch of people surely looking for "hot hot sex" on YouTube.
Some dude from WAXY.org (whose name I can't find) thought so too after the blogosphere started yelling bullshit and crunched the numbers and found that the video got one rating for every 21,000+ views, whereas most videos average one rating for every 590 views. Plus, it's averaging over 6 million views a week. The "Yes We Can" video Will.I.Am created for Barack Obama (that nearly every one of my friends sent to me - and I caucused for Hillary Clinton) has 5.6 million views total right now.
[h/t to Idolator, per usual]
Here's the CSS video?
Latest comment by: The Grim: "I don't know anything about how YouTube tracks these things, but wouldn't it be relatively easy to embed taht into a page of your own, then code a spider to repeatedly hit that page? Like, there's nearly 100K referrals from weird URLs on a domain name I've never ...
2007 has been a frustrating year for me. I've so wanted to latch on to some awesome band or album and feel just kinda 'eh' about everything. I have higher hopes for 2008.
NME has posted their "Cool" findings for 2007 on their website and has opened the voting for the Readers' Top 10 on their website.
Latest comment by: imaginary liz: "Yea we should start a list / Readers vote! Although, tied with Erik G is Jarvis."
So, even after noticing that the new Hives song "Tick Tick Boom" isn't entirely anything different from the band, it hasn't stopped it from being #1 on the NME charts. There are a couple new songs on the top 10, including
#8 "Terrafirma" by Young Knives - Sort of Gang of Four like post-post-post-punk. Not bad as such, just sort of generic Brit rock of today. The video is kind of fun, though.
#9 "Alcohol" by CSS - We all know and love CSS, so I post this mostly to amuse Betsy. And for the fact that the video is brilliant! (I'm not kidding ... its fabulous especially if you like rabbits drinking beer through funnels).
You get the added bonus of getting to say you saw CSS before your friends who listen to Top 40 radio, along with the good feeling that comes with supporting a worthy cause - this show is a benefit for Noise for the Needy as well.
Latest comment by: Betsy Boston: "No weave I don't think, it was by all accounts her real hair; just the place was so effing hot and I think her head's super sweaty, thus causing the visible hair separations at scalp level. Plus this particular moment of headbanging combined with the poor ...
Attention imaginary UK readers!
Latest comment by: gazzyjay: "Or you could just do a search, it was well well worth it"
Thanks to a live webcast stream, now we can see all the great bands playing Coachella this weekend without having to deal with the lines, portapotties, drum circles, and $10 bottle of waters.
Latest comment by: stella: "This is seriously so cool. Absolutely no need to travel 3 hrs, bake in 3-digit temperatures, and spend 3 figures... What will this do for festival attendance in the future? "
