Dear lovers of The Posies and Jon Auer's brilliant solo tunes - I have the perfect holiday gift idea for you! On Wednesday, December 21, Mr. Auer will be singing and playing an acoustic show at Volterra in their cozy, private Drawing Room. This intimate concert only has 60 tickets available, and there are two levels of Auer-esque bliss:
$30 gets you a seat
$100 gets you reserved seating, + a meet-and-greet with Jon before the show, with light appetizers & wine courtesy of Volterra! A portion of these VIP tickets will benefit SIFF too - AWESOME.
(I know which pair of tickets I'd like to recieve!!)
It's no secret that I'm a huge Posies fan - and I've sung my heart out to many a Jon solo show over the years, because THIS GUY IS THE BOMB. Plus, DJ Marco Collins is going to spin some tunes for guests before Jon takes the stage!!! And Volterra is one of my favorite places to eat and drink at. I can't think of a better way to ring in the holidays, can you?

Okay. We know Saturday's Seattle Rock Orchestra show isn't just about Rachel Flotard, but she's just so damn fantastic (as this picture by the amazing Christopher Nelson shows) that we can't ever resist a chance to mention her.
The lovely Ms. Flotard, along with The Seattle Rock Orchestra, Jon Auer, Joshua Morrison, Kaylee Cole, and a veritable star-studded cast of local musicians will be performing a tribute-y evening around Radiohead's The Bends and OK Computer this weekend. The show takes place Saturday (February 19th) at the Moore Theater, and if you're not swooning the night away out at Columbia City Theater, you'd best come and get yourself a seat.
That's about all we need to say about it, n'est ce pas? We'll see you there.
“Synchronicity is the star of Radio8Ball” was what the program’s host, a musician and actor named Andras Jones, declared when I saw his program at the Little Red Studio a few weeks ago.
The idea behind Radio8Ball is that audience members write down questions that they are pondering and several are drawn randomly throughout the course of the evening. Jones discusses the question with the audience member and then a wheel is spun, and will land on a number that corresponds with a song by the show’s musical guest, who will then perform the song and Jones, the audience member and the artist will discuss how the song answers the question that the audience member was thinking about.
It’s a really amazing show that is carried by Jones’ charisma and intelligence, as well as the musical guests who appear on the show. The next episodes of Radio8Ball feature the Radio8Band (which is discussed below) and We Are Golden, on August 26 and September 2, respectively. There will also be a performance of Radio8Ball at Bumbershoot on Monday, September 7 (at Theater Puget Sound at 4:45pm). I spoke with Andras Jones, as well as Radio8Ball band member and frequent returning champion Jon Auer (who I have, full disclosure, known as a friend for several years), as well as Radio8Ball sponsor Dibspace’s founder Dominic Canterbury over drinks at Liberty Bar on Capitol Hill last week.

Latest comment by: ig victoria: "laura, these photos are great (as usual) and I've got to take a second to thank you - I love being taken along on a slew of nights in posts like this, especially at a time like right now where there's a lot of focus on work and I can't get to a ton of shows. this ...
John + Jon + John + Sgt + Sherman? Will there be a reading? Nonstop witty banter? Amazing bearded riffs? Yes to all of the above. Must get to Tractor tomorrow night.
And if you have the radio on as your make your way to the Tractor tomorrow, make sure to listen to me and Dana on KIRO {97.3 FM) at 9p. We're going to be on TBTL's AwesomeNotAwesome segment talking up all the Top of the Croc show goodness (April 4th / The Crocodile}.

Latest comment by: Jack: "Nice review. Colin needs the Queer Eye guys to take away that shirt, but otherwise the show was enjoyable in LA last night."
Got sneakers?
If you were going to see Fountains of Wayne next week at the Triple Door and were thinking "you know, I really like opener Jon Auer an awful lot and want to see more of him in that venue", the Triple Door heard your pleas and added another show with just Auer two nights later, on January 17.
