Here's what I like in a holiday party: being around people I like, listening to good music in a legendary bar with plenty of alcohol. Everything else is a bonus.
Fortunately, our friends from Back Beat Seattle must believe the same thing because they're putting on a really great show tonight (Friday, December 18) at the Blue Moon. The lineup features Gabe Mintz (who I saw and enjoyed at the Give Seattle benefit a few weeks ago at the Crocodile), Ben Harwood (the former bassist from Iceage Cobra who is going solo now) and Lesli Wood from The Redwood Plan (who'll be rocking our holiday party five days later). All of this holiday cheer will cost you just five dollars and starts at 9pm.
Not only do Seattle powerpop band Tennis Pro have a brand new record with a fabulous new title (Are You There God, It's Me, Tennis Pro), but they also have a fabulous CD release show this Saturday, March 29th.
Latest comment by: DJ Tube Sock: "The censored image is by the same artist (Dawn Cerny)who did the cover image. The "sweet rack of dissent and deep yearning" will appear on the top of the CD itself. "

Latest comment by: Ryan Carroll: "Saturna are playing too! "
While Bumbershoot and the Capitol Hill Block Party have grown to astronomical (read as: huge touring bands) proportions, The Georgetown Music Festival is keeping it local as can be, with a preliminary lineup of loads of Seattle- (and a few Portland) based bands prepared to rock South Seattle this June 2-3.
Latest comment by: jen: "I think this festival looks wonderful. Coho, H is For Hellgate, Hypatia Lake and Spook the Horse are all amazing local talent. It may be a bit suspect that there’s no Speaker Speaker, Juhu Beach, Siberian, The Lights or The Cops (And no Hip-Hop?!!) but maybe those bands ...
I completely spaced recommending a really cool show for last night (3/30) -- the Wig Fits All Heads anniversary show at the High Dive, with Iceage Cobra, Shim, The Trucks, and Seaweed Jack. D'oh!
Latest comment by: stella: "there's another good show on the eastside tonight - east side of the mountains, that is: with a bullet and the blakes at the yakima sports center!"
