Tonight in Seattle:

Trashcan Sinatras

Trashcan Sinatras at The Triple Door tonight

For over 20 years, Trashcan Sinatras have been providing us with moody, jangly guitar rock (think Smiths, Orange Juice, Luna) from their home in Glasgow. Even though their previous album Weightlifting was their most successful to date, they promised something different this time around - In The Music, their fifth studio album, will supposedly feature happy love songs. Unfortunately, their North American distribution deal fell apart at the last minute, so tonight is your best chance to hear those new songs for at least a few more months. I can't offer up much on the opening band Brookville, except that it's the side project of Ivy's Andy Chase, so expect electronic indie pop but without Dominique Durand's voice layered over the top.

It's a Monday night, but since it's at The Triple Door (a perfect underground respite from the sun, with incredible acoustics), the show starts at 7:30.

The video for possibly their most popular single, "Hayfever", is below. Three minutes of pop perfection.

This weekend was full of things to do. As we reported earlier, there was a bunch of fun to be had at the EMP

There was bunches of fun to be had at EMP (was it Exhibitchin'?), the Northwest Film Forum (Herb and Dorothy), Top Pot Doughnuts (indie rock + dough + nuts = NUM!), and all the clubs were full of worthy ways of a band ilk.

I had a wonderful weekend of outdoors activities topped off with a visit with Black Francis (more to come on that) with a gaggle of imaginaries.

What did you do (besides procure your tickets to see the Pixies in November)?
