The world is a much more comforting place knowing that the Suburban Kids with Biblical Names duo is back making songs and likely working on a follow up to 2009's EP #4. Could 2010 be the year of EP #5?!?!
To whet our appetite, they've offered up a remix of their Labrador labelmate's {Pallers} blog hit "The Kiss." Go download the original and the remix now!
And to get all nostalgic, here's one of everyone's favorite 2005 video featuring burnt toast:

The San Francisco Popfest starts today (imaginary Keenan is already headed south to get there in time for tonight's shows)!!!
The 'fest runs though Sunday, May 24, 2009 and Keenan, amazing imaginary photographer Steve Louie and I will be running around the greater San Francisco area basking in all that fine fine indie-pop.
We're looking forward to most all the bands (ballboy ballboy ballboy), but we put together a podcast of some of the lesser known ones and ones with hit songs we've been listening to on repeat (ahem: Stay Flyin').
You should go listen to it now (and go subscribe to our podcasts on iTunes 'cause we have big plans to make this the summer of podcasts!).

NYC Popfest 2009 was a whirlwind of crazy awesome pop shows, and I was lucky enough to be there! I am way too exhausted to process all my photos and properly express how amazing the bands were, and how fun it was, and now I just need to get my ass on a plane and get home. But, I managed to find a few videos of some of my highlights of the fest, courtesy of SoundbitesNYC!
One of the greatest bands I saw was a band from LA called The Tartans (who are also playing SF Popfest next weekend!), who played Friday night of the fest. This song, "Cats of Cameford" has pretty much been stuck in my head for months, and it was really fun to actually get to see them play it live!
Latest comment by: keenan dowers: "Thanks for taking those videos, Bill! I forgot my camera that takes video, and am very happy I can still nerd out and rewatch all my favorites! The Cookies, MTS, and PY! were also among my favorites as well, but it wasn't a surprise to me, as I knew those three ...
I don't know about you guys, but Sasquatch has never really been my cup of tea. I'm sort of a whiner about huge festivals. But, book a bunch of indie pop bands that I love over a series of smaller venues? I'm there in a quicker than you can shake a tambourine. This Memorial Day Weekend, I'll be headed South instead of East to San Francisco Popfest! I'd basically decided I was going before there was a lineup, because, well, I love popfests. To my surprise the (partial) lineup is even better than I was hoping for!

What is it about Sweden anyways? Is it the long winter nights? The long summer days? The frightening good looks? The socialized medicine? Hell, they have socialized BOOZE (Absolut vodka is owned by the government). They do give grants to musicians, which might strike your average starving band in the US as bizarre, but these bands earn it.
Latest comment by: swedestpleasest: "Nice coverage of this release. I agree with this reviewer wholeheartedly. I received this boxset from parcel post last week and can't stop listening to it. "Cinnamon" is unbeatable. I could live without Tribeca. The synth surely inspired Nine Inch Nails to ...
