Anything that Lesli Wood touches is gold, and with her band, The Redwood Plan, she cements that she's a Seattle rock force to be reckoned with. The Redwood Plan's new album, Green Light Go, released on February 12th, and on it, Lesli promises a bigger and more dynamic TRP. Her vocals can seemlessly veer from raucous riot grrl to vulnerable sorrow, soaking your heart with each stab of her pen stroke and guitar lick.
The Green Light Go record release show is this Friday, February 15th at Neumos. Don't leave without your copy of the new album since you will likely be adding this to your likely possibly concrete list of favorite albums of 2013 as well.

We were elbow-to-elbow with all our best pals in the front row at Neumos Saturday night, in the name of love, fundraising, and the one and only Jenny George. Yep, this past weekend was the 8th annual Dancing on the Valentine fundraiser, and it was jam-packed with great local bands belting out our favorite Cure tracks. The money's still being tallied, but judging by the crowd, we're sure that the night went a long way toward the annual Leukemia and Lymphoma Society donation -- take a peek at the photos below and relive all the fun! We were particularly enamored with Lesli Wood (as usual), Adra Boo, NighTrain, Panama Gold, and those fellows in Fox and the Law:

Every year I tell you guys to get tickets to Jenny George's annual Dancing on the Valentine benefit show, and every year you listen to me, so I figure there's no reason to stop now! As previously mentioned, this year's show theme is A Cure for Leukemia - featuring local bands covering songs by The Cure, with all proceeds from tickets and raffles going to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Jenny drops the grand total off at their door each year on her birthday, and it's truly a thing of joy to watch. Last year we raised a total of $7, 714.83, and this year they're gunning for at least $10,000 with a bigger venue at Neumos, and an online art auction that's will run through the weekend. (PSST: There's still a chance to bid on some amazing pieces and get them for an awesome price!!!).
In addition to the all the kick-ass music, Ben Haley's famous photo booth, tunes by DJ Mike Steve, and Jenny's son Atticus making a special appearance, DOTV has teamed up with Uber to offer 50% off rides to and from the show (just enter code SEADOTV before requesting a car on your Uber app!), and partnered with both KEXP and CityArts Magazine for some much-appreciated support!
Dancing on the Valentine: A Cure for Leukemia is THIS Saturday! Doors at 8pm, tix $15, 21+ at Neumos. Get tickets now at Sonic Boom, or online here. This show has sold out the past 3 years! So DO NOT wait. To entice you further, I've included a breakdown of the bands playing this year after the jump - along with a list of the raffles we're going to bundle up for the. best. raffle. prizes. EVER.
Who's going to join me for some Hot Hot Hot times on Saturday!?!?!
You guys! There are only a few more weeks until Dancing on the Valentine 8: A Cure for Leukemia!
In case you haven't heard of DOTV before (what!), the fabulous Ms. Jenny George, a survivor of Leukemia, decided to start this benefit 8 years ago to give back to the organization that provides support to cancer patients, and is working hard to find a cure. The benefit has grown each year to raise more money for LLS, and this year DOTV is hoping to raise at least $10,000 to beat the hell out of last year's record-breaking $7,000+!
The 2013 show features local bands covering the music of The Cure at Neumos on Saturday, 2/9, with all proceeds from ticket sales and raffles going to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The line-up is FIERCE this year, with Adra Boo, Daniel G. Harmann and The Trouble Starts, Erik Blood, Gibraltar, Head Like a Kite, Hotels, Lesli Wood (of The Redwood Plan) w/Jupe Jupe, NighTrain, Panama Gold, The Grizzeled Mighty, Vox Mod, and interludes by DJ Mike Steve. Plus! Our own Imaginary Dana will be emcee'ing, and Jenny's handsome son Attitcus will be making a special appearance on stage at the beginning of the night to sing some Robert Smith!!!
We've got a pair of tix to giveaway to a lucky winner, so you can spend your donation dollars on raffle tickets instead. Email us at tig {at} threeimaginarygirls {dot} com with the subject line "Lovecats" anytime between now and 5pm Monday 2/4 for a chance to win 'em. We'll notify the winner Tuesday am.

It’s probably impossible that you haven’t heard Lesli Wood sing, either from her awesome Ms. Led days, or covering songs for Jenny George’s annual Dancing on the Valentine benefit, or fronting her kick-ass band The Redwood Plan.
It also goes without saying that the imaginary girls LOVE the heck out of Ms. Wood, and are beyond thrilled that she’s agreed to sing at our Imaginary Holiday Spectacular this Friday! (that’s the 21st, people! SO CLOSE!) Every time she takes the stage, I’m personally blown away by her powerhouse vocals and amazing presence. Hell, sometimes when I see her out and about in Seattle I’m too awe-struck to say “Hi” because I’m rendered unable by my starstruck fandom.
I can’t imagine anyone NOT loving Lesli Wood, and I’m so looking forward to seeing her play on Friday. You’re coming too, right?
Head on over to the StrangerTickets site to grab some $10 tix before they sell out, because we really really really really want you to be there to celebrate the holidays with us!

Yep, you guessed it -- with the passing of Thanksgiving, the holiday season is now officially in full swing, and with that, we're super excited this morning to announce the 2012 lineup for the Imaginary Holiday Spectacular!
Get your calendars out and mark the date: this year's show will be taking place on Friday, December 21st, and we'll be returning back to the Hill {Chop Suey, to be specific} for a 21-and-up night of music, good vibes, and Santa-lap hilarity. This year's theme is Open Mic Night, and will be featuring some stripped-down sets from Pablo Trucker, Lesli Wood (of The Redwood Plan), Cristina Bautista, Leif Anders (of The Orca Team), Chris Otepka (of The Heligoats), and Brite Lines. Of course, we've got the inimitable John Roderick playing Indie Rock Santa for the evening, with John E. Hollingsworth bringing his photo-tastic skills to capture your special holiday moment. Hooray!
Tickets are on sale now, and if we do say so ourselves, ten dollars (!) is a mighty fair price to pay for an evening of all this fun! But if you still need convincing, stay tuned: we'll be posting features in the upcoming weeks about all the artists taking part in this year's show. And PS, be sure to head on over to the Facebook page for the event to stay in the loop.
Happy almost-holidays!

Man, are we lucky! Our friend Nate Watters piled on to the already-bursting set of photos from our Rockstar New Wave Karaoke Party {from the de-lovely Laura Musselman}, giving us oodles more to ogle at. Not only did he contribute to a set of shots over at the City Arts Blog, he also tossed a few pics in our flickr pool -- so go poke around and have a peek at all the awesome! More views of Sean Nelson, Jenny Jiminez, Cristina Bautista, Cody Hurd, Lesli Wood, and so many of our friends and fellow fans are just waiting for your eyeballs. Here's a taste:

WOW!!! I can't pick a favorite! Thanks so much for capturing the magic that night, Nate!!!

We can't thank you enough for helping us celebrate our 10th Anniversary in Rockstar New Wave Karaoke style last Friday {June 1, 2012} at Chop Suey!!! The evening was so much fun and having you all there really made it all super special. There were so many amazing moments, some that we can't even believe actually happened! If we weren't already in love with every one of the performers that took the stage, we are certainly over the moon with them now.
There were so many amazing performances it's impossible to list all the amazing moments here... but here are just a couple off the top of our heads:
Ben Hooker re-writing Duran Duran's "Girls on Film" to "Three Imaginary Girls On-Line." We still don't know how he did it and really wish it was caught "on film." We are still blushing from the honor of having a Ben Hooker-penned song about us!
Patrick from Your Favorite Book singing "99 Luft Balloons" IN GERMAN! We're not sure if you noticed, but the words on the karaoke monitor were in English, which means Patrick actually memorized the German version. From seeing YFB shows in the past, we knew he was going to go all the way. But, blow up red balloons and fill the crowd with them as he broke out into song? While singing in German?

Jenny Jimenez capturing all that is "She Bop" by Cyndi Lauper. The face paint, the outfit, the dance moves, AND a spot on rendition of this classic Cyndi tune. It was a big undertaking and Jenny nailed it!
Sean Nelson singing "Peace, Love, and Understanding." Sean not only covered the Elvis Costello song beautifully, he got so into the moment that he left the stage with a hole ripped in the knee of his pants and a bloody knee! We admire his new wave devotion!

Jenny and Chris of Tullycraft's version of "Come On Eileen." The overalls, the dance moves pulled directly from a Dexy's Midnight Runners video and the over-the-top vocals. Thank goodness it was captured on video (posted below)!

Did you pick up your copy of the Imaginary Zine at the big Rockstar New Wave Karaoke Bash at Chop Suey on Friday, June 1st?
If you don't have a copy of the zine yet (or you want to buy another!), you can order online or purchase at any upcoming Three Imaginary Girls event in the near future (next one: the 10th Anniversary Ice Cream Social at Bluebird Microcreamery in Capitol Hill on July 12!). The zine is limited run of 333 copies (the back cover does not lie), so buy yours soon!
The Imaginary Zine is a 60-page old school printed zine recounting our first 10 years with some of our favorite blog posts and stories from our imaginary friends. It also includes a cd chock full of rare, live, or exclusive songs by some of our favorite local artists (full list below)!
The most amazing part? It's only $4 (+ USPS postage)
Want a sneak peak of some of the radness inside the hand-crafted zine?

If there's one lady in this city who's earned a Wonder Woman cape, it's Lesli Wood. For as long as TIG has been around (reminder: 10 years!), Lesli has been a part of Seattle's most noteworthy bands.
I remember the first time we saw her in action. It was with Saeta at the Sit and Spin in 2002. It was a completely dark room, with Saeta's sublime, flowing songs filling the space. Lesli lit up the stage with her beautiful vocals and heart-wrenching piano melodies… and her imaginary fanclub was formed.
Since then she's lead the way in Seattle's music scene with not one, but two more amazing bands: Ms. Led (r.i.p.) and The Redwood Plan (currently ruling the streets). She was even a mentor on an episode of MTV's "Made" (in which she illustrated *extreme* pose, compassion, and patience). And while doing all this, she's been a practicing attorney. The lady totally deserves a superhero cape!
If you heart Lesli as much as we do (which we *know* you do), mark your calendar for the next Redwood Plan show on Friday, June 8th at The Crocodile with Seapony, Land of Pines and Young Evils for the Noise for the Needy Benefit.
We heart Lesli for so many reasons. She's talented, kind and she's been gracious enough to take part in many an imaginary party (and rocked them all). Remember her performance of "Divorce Song" at our Exile In {Imaginary} Girlville Liz Phair cover night back in 2008 (video below)?!
I wonder what amazing new wave song she's going to sing at our 10th Anniversary Rockstar New Wave Karaoke Bash on Friday, June 1st at Chop Suey {tix}. Get your video recorder ready!
