Tonight in Seattle:

wishlist 2009

Imaginary Wishlist: Shrie {embroidered art, box sets and large gauge jewelry}

I'm a wishlist keeper. I have one on Etsy and one on Amazon and I'm forever updating them. You never know when someone is gonna ask you what you want for Christmas... and by golly I'm gonna be ready! If you were so inclined to sleaze your way into my good graces, these items would all but secure your place in my heart. Here are a few items I've been salivating over:

Imaginary Wishlist: Chelsea {Unisex jewlery, unisex workshops, and unisex vinyl}

Some people may call me cheap, but I’d like to think of myself as a conservationist. Since my siblings on the East Coast probably aren’t reading this, I’ll go ahead and tell you that this year, like most, they will both be getting the CD’s I’ve already uploaded into my computer, and my sister will probably get back a T-shirt or two I stole from her years ago. It’s a great way to go because I already know she’ll love the shirt and they’ll never know I didn’t just buy the albums with them in mind. Maybe this is a youngest child syndrome, but if you get agoraphobic just thinking about check-out lines this time of year, go ahead and just wrap up that 4th Chuck Palahunuik novel, you’ve already read; You don’t need to keep it, they all have the same plot twist at the end anyway. Give it to your friend who never knew who The Pixies were before Fight Club.

However, if you are really intent on spending your money but you still don’t relish the idea of unusually cold winter days spent in downtown malls, then never fear, the imaginary wish lists are here. Seattle has a world full of reasonably priced local artisans turning all the gift giving ideas you’ve been stressing about into a simple point and click. These first two are people that I personally own pieces from and can attest to their quality. The second two are things that I would want if anyone in my life had money.

{Ed note: Every year it seems to get harder and harder to find the perfect gift for the special +1s on our list. This year we've decided to combine imaginary forces and have some staffers list out the spectacular things they've discovered while perusing the vast indie (and sometimes not so indie) marketplace this holiday season.  For the next couple weeks leading up to the big holiday gift exchange season, we'll post our own wishlist suggestions.

Have you found an incredible deal or something you, or someone close to you, shouldn't be with out? Post it here!}

I realized while making this thing that it’s kind of disgusting how much STUFF I want, but uh. Well. I’m a child of 80s (queue Madonna’s "Material Girl" & my aspirations to be a teen in "the Valley", even though Seattle doesn't have one); let’s just leave it at that.

But also, there’s just so much good stuff out there – handmade by people who totally rock and deserve support, that it’s great to be able to share some of my favorites with TIG readers in hopes that you’ll find the perfect something-something for your family & friends.
