Oh no! Shorthand for Epic breakup/shakeup
Submitted by imaginary dana on October 4, 2007.Ack! Browsing my MySpace bulletins (after sorting through the $600 "free Macy's gift cards" in our inbox, thanks spammers), I saw an announcement from Seattle band and TIG faves Shorthand for Epic called "PLEASE READ - IMPORTANT."
The message details why you need to see their show at the High Dive on October 13th... but it's reason #4 that's most compelling:
Last, but definitely not least, it will be our current bass player Larry's last show with the band. It is also, as we found out last night, our current drummer Stormi's last show with the band. As such, we will be going on hiatus for a while to recharge our batteries and figure out how to recalibrate the beast that is SFE. So this will be your last chance to see us play for an indeterminate length of time. Get it while the getting's good.
Sorry the show is not all-ages, this was kind of sudden.
Sadness!!! Here's hoping SFE can pull together a new rhythm section and continue to rock us, very soon!
PS ~ The October 13th show also features Ms Led and the Ruby Doe -- quite the hard-hitting stellar local lineup!

SFE is a Seattle-based pop-punk band. See imaginary coverage of the band here, or visit their MySpace page here to learn more.

I hope we can get this sorted out before school lets out today. Imaginary Kiku is not going to like this one bit.

is anyone in need of an electric triangle player??

yeah, kiku is going to be pissed. i really hope these guys are going to pull through this - tour can be mad stressful, but it would be a real shame to be denied a SFE full-length. billy is one of the best lyricists working in seattle right now, and here's hoping we hear more from him, shorthand or otherwise.

Don't worry guys, as upset as I was when I first heard about this...I'm coping...
I appriciate your concern though :] I'm learning to play bass super-fast!
Best of luck to Larry, and thanks for all the amazing times guys!! We'll have them again soon!

Thanks so much Jordan, I really appreciate the kind words, that's incredibly sweet of you to say.
Just to be clear, I have nothing but respect for Larry and Stormi's decision and they've both said that they'd come back to record all the songs we have written so far some time a few months from now, which I wouldn't want to record without them since they both played such a big role in putting the songs together. So you may still get your full-length (or at least another EP. ;-)
I'd encourage everybody to keep any eye on whatever projects Larry and Stormi join / form next, they are both immensely talented and I'm sure they'll be kicking ass again soon.
Four our part, as soon as Brooke and I have gotten some rest and figured out what we're going to do now, TIG and all y'all will be the first to know.
Thanks again Jordan, it's nice to feel appreciated.
XOXOXO

Kiku, you are and will always be our favorite super fan. I'm just sad we didn't get to actually make the awesome buttons you designed before this, but I'll try to do them anyway, it would be a shame not to use them. :-)
If we put something else out posthumously for this line-up, maybe we'll try to do a little release show or something, which in that case would definitely be all-ages.
Thanks for everything, lady!

Aw Billy you are so amazing :] Jordan is super right, you're lyrics are just mind-blowing. Did I ever tell you I wrote a whole paper for History on the Crimean war, based on what you told me about Hamhands? It was highly successful :]
I really hope to see you guys soon!
Perhaps this CD release show could be on March 10? (otherwise known as my birthday)

Don't worry ladies! One day soon we will rise from beneath the inky waters of our self-imposed hiatus like the great Cyclopean architecture of the mighty city of Ry'leh where sleeps the derad Elder Gods and ... aw, fuck it. I'm too tired for the Lovecraft metaphors right now. ;-)
Point being, we will be back, we are just severely burned out after playing 5 million shows this summer and going on tour and we need some time to re-charge and figure out where to go from here.
You'll be the first to know when we're ready to play again.
Thanks for everything!
XOXOXO
