TONIGHT: I can't believe anyone still wants to go see these bands play, 25+ years past their primes

As I griped about in my Van Halen post earlier this week, paying big bucks to see nostalgia shows is just a sad, sad hobby to me. So seeing that Def Leppard, Styx, and Foreigner are all playing together tonight at the (gack!) White River Amphitheatre... well, I'm sure plenty of people I know and respect are going. But I just don't understand why anyone would want to see any of those bands, now.

Unless it's to laugh.

That said, I will still stand by Def Leppard's first three records, and would give a LOT to be able to fly-on-the-wall it back nearly 30 years to see this show:

I'd rather be a Blue Collar man, no, I'd rather be a Jukebox Hero.

Okay... so having just returned from this show (free ticket), I have to give it up for both Foreigner and Styx. They don't bullshit, the common formula was play the hits, play a ballad, play the rest of their hits, and then it was over, with maybe a pee break squeezed in at some point. They're crowd pleasers, and as long as their not dead, their fans won't be dead, and people will want to see them.

Although, I couldn't help but feel Styx wasn't the same without Dennis DeYoung, and Mr. Roboto.
