New releases for the week, from Easy Street Records
Submitted by Jflores on September 25, 2007.LOTS of new releases this Tuesday!
The Cave Singers' release on Matador is finally out! I LOVE this record to bits. They are hands down my favorites from this year's Bumbershoot and KEXP BBQ and the timing is just right for crisp Fall listening. AND they will be here @ QA Easy Street TONIGHT @ 6 PM for their record release performance, so come on down!
I haven't heard it yet, but I am so curious about Bobbie Nelson's (Willie's sister) FIRST release!?! It's out on Justice Records, which is the new home of Seattle's own Visqueen.
Iron & Wine has a new one The Shepard's Dog out today. I have been listening to the single so much that I am stoked to have more of it. They just announced this morning that they will be bringing it to the Moore on December 3rd, which sucks because I will be at Van Halen!! (Unless the tour implodes by then.)

Oopsie, I meant to pull that PJ Harvey listing -- "White Chalk" isn't officially out till early October. And Joe -- I don't think any records could ever beat "Stories from the City..." or "Rid of Me." Though I sure am excited to listen and see how close she comes. I heart me some Polly Jean!

Also out today and something I am itchin for is the new Sir Richard Bishop album Polytheistic Fragments. Now I have to decide if I want to see him open up for Bill Callahan at the Triple Door or just be happy to see him on Oct 25th at Rendezvous Jewelbox Theater with Oren Ambarchi and Wah Wah Exit Wound.

To James: I know another guitar player who's also going to be clamoring for that one. I wonder if it's also available in vinyl?? ;)

Dana: The other Miles box sets have been released on 180g vinyl - but usually a bit later than the CD release. This new set would be worth getting on vinyl for the cover art alone.

For those of you in cities bigger than Seattle, PJ Harvey will be having listening parties for White Chalk ... it comes out stateside next week (10/2).
Oh yeah, I can be sacrilegious and admit my favorite PJ album is To Bring You My Love. "The Dancer" is one of my alltime favorite songs.

I can't believe they snubbed Seattle but decided to make a stop in freaking LOUISVILLE Kentucky!! Does that even make sense??
Meh.
And Erik, there's no shame in that -- it's also a fine release.

I just bought two of these--Iron and Wine and the Weakerthans--about an hour ago. Already had a few...comments here...
Yeah, Iron and Wine is awesome. Beautiful, lush, all Brian Deck-ed out and glorious. Meets expectations.
I'm more concerned with The Weakerthans than any, whose "Reconstruction Site" a few years ago still makes me yearn for something faintly indescribable and just out of reach. The single "Civil Twilight" is just awesome. Check 'em both out.
PJ Harvey's okay, still not as good as "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" or "Rid of Me" before it.
The Miles Davis box is probably great.
Devendra's new one is great. I'm still partial to my "Rejoicing..." and "Nino Rojo" 2x LP, however the track "Seahorse" from "Smokey Rolls..." is gorgeous.
And come on...the New Amsterdams still got it!
