Ooh, this would be PERFECT for the imaginary bebe's room (my latent goth aesthetics are not always on the inside!). But I went to the website and the first listing I saw was this:
...for a SHEARED BEAVER COAT.
Um, EWWWW!

Yea - that's totally weird they had that and the fox thing first... especially considering that the group's mission statement is to project animals?
Is that goth humor and we just don't get it?

This seems to clear it up a bit:
"As Gorey’s concern about animal welfare grew, he went from 'wearing raccoons to housing them' in the attic of his Yarmouth Port home. These important artifacts are for the ultimate discriminating collector, who shares Edward’s understanding of the importance of the care of animals and actively promoting their welfare. Fur coats were a ‘trademark’ of Edward’s illustrations and self-portraits, and it was important to him to put his collection into storage in the late 1980’s as a personal statement on behalf of animal welfare. Half of the proceeds of this sale will go to the Edward Gorey Charitable Trust whose sole mission is to support animal welfare."
Is it wrong that the phrase "sheared beaver" makes me think of things other than the fur of water mammals?

I want that fox thing! Personally, I do not support the production of new fur items, but you have to admit that fur is luxurious and wonderful. If you can get your hands on some sweet vintage fur, you should rock it to celebrate the animals that provided it.
Wouldn't it be a bigger shame to let the animal deaths of the past be for nothing?
