Elton John wants to destroy the Internet

Now playing the role of Godzilla in our cyber-Tokyo: Sir Elton John!

Sir Elton wants to destroy the internet because he thinks it's ruining music. A few gems include:

"The internet has stopped people from going out and being with each other, creating stuff. Instead they sit at home and make their own records, which is sometimes OK but it doesn’t bode well for long-term artistic vision."

Huh? So, music is more accessible for people to make? Bad, eh?

"I do think it would be an incredible experiment to shut down the whole internet for five years and see what sort of art is produced over that span."

Um.

"I don’t have a mobile phone or an iPod or anything."

Good evening folks, introducing your evening's Unibomber, it's Sir Elton John!

These pathetic old rockers should just die, or at least shut up and get out of the way.

I love watching how Elton John gets exponentially crazier as time goes on!

I think this is one of those cases of someone not thinking out their point into words in advance.

I hate to admit, but I kinda see what he's saying; I just don't grasp how he was saying it.

It would be an interesting experiment to have no internet for maybe a week or something. See what happens. And that would mean no TV, too.

Do you think people would get out there and interact with other humans? Or do you think they'd sit at home, shaking like a junky, waiting for the internets to turn back on?

I guess the flipside to this is that without the interweb, would any of us be interacting?

That being said, I tend to think most people are too attached to their technology (including me), which makes my chosen profession (geology) great because I can head off into the field and leave all the beeping and whirring behind.

Interestingly enough, I'd wager that most of the internet wants to destroy Elton John.

I know I'd be first in line...

one of music's most mandatory elements for creating rock 'n' roll is adding a little progression.

make way for generation y's inter-style!
