Prison "Thriller"

From the YouTube video summary:

The 1500+ inmates of Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Cebu City, Philippines, do a lot more than just languish in a cell. They have livelihood programs and personal savings accounts, allowing them to earn and save money for legal fees or the families they left behind. Perhaps even more impressive is what they do with the rest of their time: rehearse and perform elaborate parodies and dance numbers, like the recreation of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" seen here.

I don't even know what to say. I'm frightened and amused and confused and disturbed all at once.

Sad that the 1 person who made Thriller famous is the 1 person who definitely deserves to be serving time in there....

That being said, I can name several bands that could probably benefit from their choreographer... aka Prisoner #24687521

I'm pretty sure there's no way you convince 1,500 inmates to cooperate on a choreography like that without some coercion of some sort. My guess, the warden is some web geek who really understands viral video and is currently raking in the dough via google ads. Which I guess could be worse, all things considered.

OR, there's some things about the Filipino correctional system that I just don't understand.

See, thats what a little hard work and a good attitude can do! Take a bad situation and make it into something fabulous!
