I glanced at the NME singles chart today and found Biffy Clyro at #1, knocking off the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Ugh! That's what I think - ugh! If you need to remind yourself how much I didn't like Biffy Clyro, visit here. While you're there, you can remember how much I like the current #10, Dizzee Rascal's "Old Skool".

Some new entries (well, over the last two weeks as I didn't update last week) for your amusement:

Interpol - The Heinrich Maneuver - (****1/2) I don't care what you people say, I love Interpol. Sure, they can be really derivative sometimes and sure they can seem like they're just rehashing their songs over and over and sure this video is dancing the fine line between cool and really really lame, but the song is in my head all the time right now.

The Pigeon Detectives - Take Her Back - (*1/2) A big yawn. The lead singer hops around.

Smashing Pumpkins - Tarantula - (***) OK, not to incur the wrath of Riippi, but the Pumpkins song at the end of Transformers, I think it was "Doomsday Clock," is just plain bad. It sort of reminded me of hearing the Guns N' Roses song at the end of the Governator's End of Days back in 1999 - that being some hollow shell of the former band. That being said, "Tarantula" is better, but still too much Machina for my tastes. I do like the odd disconnect between the tone of the song and the tone of the video - and Billy's hat is pretty cool.

Hard-Fi - Suburban Knights - (*1/2) Maybe something gets lost on me, but I've never gotten Hard-Fi. They seem kind of like a modern rock boy-band or Muse Lite? Can anyone help me on this one here?
