Hermione's boobs, and other reasons why I fear I will loathe the Order of the Phoenix on Friday

Those of you who know me know that I read Harry Potter books to distraction. I am a superfan. So of course, I'm excited to go see this on Friday the 13th...

...Even though I already suspect I will hate it.

Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix

We already had an imaginary blog post a short while back about my perceived inaccuracies with the film... and that was just from watching the trailer. I just know the books so well, I hate when they make lame-o Hollywood decisions that negatively impact the film. Now, just looking at the poster, I'm annoyed again.

  • All I see are Hermione's boobs. Is it just me, or is that what you see too, when you look at this poster? Who dressed her in that sweater?? There are no boobs at Hogwarts!

  • There are no sweaters at Hogwarts. There are no hoodies either, for that matter. The students wear robes. Black robes. What's the problem with that? Should make costuming easier. They're wizards, not hipsters. Sheesh.
  • I have no idea who the person behind Ron is. I've read this book more times than I'll admit, and yet I don't know who is second from the left on the movie poster. I'm not even sure if that's a male or female person. I find this most alarming of all. Can someone help me out??!?

Anyhow, I'm still going to see it on Friday and I still can't wait!!! Even though I know I will want to endlessly debate what was wrong with it afterward...

that is Ginny.

saw the movie in a sneak peek last night. i thought they did a good job. I thought JK had been a bit wordy so i was pretty happy with the cuts they took to fit it all in a 2 hour and 15 minute movie.

Luna Lovegood is awesome and Delores Umbridge is also pretty rad bad guy.

Hermoine has boobs. what are you going to deny her that? This poster seems to make them smaller than they are so maybe you are just drawn to boobs?

Yes, playing in Seattle at the Meridian (ugh) and the Metro. It's how I plan to escape tomorrow's forecast upper-90s heat wave...

Upper 90's heatwave? Bah! Try 110's heatwave.

That's a girl behind Ron, I think her name is Steve.

Since it is now cool to be a total dork and be into magi(k) and junk thanks to Ms. Rowling, of course they would want to put those characters in hoodies and Chuck T's.

Speaking of Hermoines boobs (kind of creepy) did you know that they actually altered the posters and made them bigger? However, after public outcry on the internets and on the physical plain they pulled the posters and put up slightly less re-touched ones.

Google it y'all. Seriously.

To curt @1:

1) I can't believe that's Ginny. That kinda weirds me out.

2) I know her boobs aren't big -- it's something about how she's positioned, and the only one in stripes, that just draws my eyes. I might, admittedly, just be obsessed with boobs. Who knows.

3) The opening night show was already sold out, so I'm not going till Friday. When book #7 releases later this month, however, I will be there at midnight to get my copy. Oh yes sirree!

Also, to Elliot @6.

I hear about the whole PhotoShopping of boobs controversy! Craaaaaaaaaazy.

This link on Angry Zen Master made me giggle... tho I gotta say, the two images don't look *that* different to me.

I really can't wait for the 7th book. I just re-read the 6th and all these unanswered questions are welled up inside me!

I think RAB is Regulus Black :]

1) That's Ginny? Dang. How are we supposed to be all about Harry getting all up on that in the future? I figured it'd be Luna Lovegood when I saw it. Yuck. Isn't that Ginny behind Neville in the far back, though?

2) I had a serious problem taking the colored robes in the first two movies seriously, and would have the same problem with black robes. Maybe I'm not superfan enough, but, there's just something lacking in dignity about running around looking like you're on the way to commencement. Plus, don't they wear robes as their school uniforms, and change out? That's what I remember from GOF.

Kiku: I completely agree about RAB. And if you're nerdy enough to have just re-read book #5 as well, there's a scene when they're cleaning out the Black family house near the beginning where they briefly mention something about "a locket that was too heavy to lift" in one of the display cases of dark objects. I'm sure that's the Horcrux, and RAB stuck it there.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee for HP nerdiness!

Oh man Dana, you just blew my mind! Seriously, its all over the wall!!

I know right?!?!?!?!? I'm so completely freaked out about the book seven release being THISCLOSETOHERE, I can't stand it.

And to the Grim: I toooooootally agree about Ginny. Perhaps it's just not a flattering photo? Behind Neville is Luna. She's supposed to be amazing in the role, but she's clearly far too attractive for it.

I think I was most upset about the choices for Lupin and Sirius. I mean, could they make them any uglier? And what was with Lupins little moustache? Ugh

I have seen the new Harry Potter movie, and I can report:

It is pretty much devoid of Hermione-boobs.

Maybe next year?
