Rosie: I won't host TPIR

Rosie O'DonnellRosie O'Donnell says she won't uproot her wife and kids from the NYC area to host The Price is Right (which tapes in LA).

From today's Hollywood Reporter:

"I'm in a weird position. I don't need the money.... So to get my entire family uprooted from their lives and move them across the country so that I can have a fantasy childhood indulgence ... it just doesn't seem fair."

O'Donnell lives in Nyack, N.Y., near New York City, with her partner, Kelli, and their four children. She recently left ABC's "The View" after a heated on-air squabble with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

"You know, if they were able to do it in New York, it would be a different story," O'Donnell said. "But it looks like it's -- it ain't gonna happen."

No word on whether she read our live blog of Bob Barker's final ep.

Poor Liz. I'm sure she's despondent over the news.

Rosie belongs in New York. It would be weird if she lived in LA.

This is good news! I can't see her taking over for the legendary BB. I thought that sounded like such a bad idea.

I was actually looking forward to Rosie as host. She's lively, engaging, and totally enthused about TPIR -- some of the things that made Bob so irreplaceable.

And she's a better choice than current frontrunner J. Peterman John O'Hurley.

Geeeeeeez. I've seen Peterman do the Feud once or twice. That's so not cool. Why can't they get someone with some kind of grit? Is Courtney Love available? Now THAT would be worth watching.

Actually, given how hi-larious she is on NPR's "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me," I'd pick Paula Poundstone for the female comedian nominee.

This should totally be a SNL skit -- like trying out Hollywood's it folk --- I want to see the skit where Britney tries out to host TPIR... or maybe they'll turn it into a VH1 show and bring in Michael Ian Black and add 'bubble technology' to the show.

Why isn't there a TV version of WWDTM? Or would that ruin it?

Have you seen the TV version of "This American Life"?

Oh Michael Ian Black would be goooood. Or how about Donal Logue? And I'm not just saying that because I have a massive thing for him.

I have not seen the TV TAL, I think because I don't have cable (I presume it's on cable? Though, I'm kind of out of touch with what's happening in the land of TV, even in non-cable, judging by that Creature Comforts post).

Thank goodness. Though I still hold my ground that they should just air re-runs of TPIR rather than try to get someone to "replace" BB.

TAL is on Showtime. i wrote a story on Ira Glass for a mag out here and in the promo packet I got the whole season on DVD. I only have a computer so if I'm watching TV, I'm watching a DVD of somethign on TV.

I'd love to see reruns of TPIR's past 35 years. I wish they'd done a "best of Bob" over the summer at least.

The "wardrobe malfunction" episode would have been a must.
