New releases this week, from Easy Street Records

It's a big day for Sub Pop offshoot label Hardly Art, as they welcome their first release, by Seattle's Arthur & Yu, called In Camera. This record has been in pretty steady rotation at my house for a few weeks and I really love it. Congrats to Sara and Nick of Hardly Art!

I love me some David Vandevelde, but I am still scratching my head wondering
why he put out this EP with songs that are already on his recent full length
Moonstation House Band?!? Still love the song "Nuthin No" though. Might
be my favorite song of the year thus far.

The White Stripes Icky Thump is here. It's a little known fact that this record was made for Imaginary Liz and the rest of us are lucky that she is sharing it
with the rest of the world.

I am a new fan of Polyphonic Spree. They ended up being the only music I saw at this year's Sasquatch Festival, and that was only because the band was cool enough to play a surprise show after the crowds had gone for all the people that had to work the entire festival.

I haven't heard anything from the Mark Olson record, but he's an phenomenal musician and is the other half to the AMAZING Victoria Williams. Does The Grammy's have a category for cutest couple?

Here's the complete list:

ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE, Nam Myo Ho
AMIINA, Kurr
ART BRUT, It's a Bit Complicated
ARTHUR & YU, In Camera
BON JOVI, Lost Highway
CHROMEO, Fancy Footwork
BRYAN FERRY, Dylanesque (all Dylan Songs)
JOHN FRUSCIANTE, Ataxia II
LIGHTNING DUST, S/T
MINUS STORY, My Ion Truss
MANDY MOORE, Wild Hope
POLYPHONIC SPREE, Fragile Army
MARK OLSON, The Salvation Blues
XAVIER RUDD, White Moth

I've kinda been wondering why igLiz hasn't chimed in with her thoughts on Icky Thump yet. Perhaps she's still deciding between the Meg or Jack USB drives?

Let us not forget the return of ART BRUT (then again, were they ever really away?)

I know -- I am still finding the words for the album! I am excited to see them on Conan tonight... a performance report tomorrow. I love that hot Jack and Meg action.

Erik! Are you loving the new Art Brut album?

And what do you predict will be the new tour t-shirt catch phrase? Last time they were in town it was all about the "Popular Culture No Longer Applies To Me" t-shirts.

I'm sort of wondering why I never knew Bryan Ferry was doing a Dylan cover record. That might be interesting.

And I'm still in love with Emily Kane.
