Tonight in Seattle:

I love theme days!

You guys did such a great job with my last work theme day, I thought I'd pick your brains for our newest theme day (happening on Friday).

It's songs that incorporate toe tapping, finger snapping, hand clapping, and whistling.

Here's what I have so far:

Steve Miller - Take the Money and Run
Queen - We Will Rock You
Guns N Roses - Patience
Sugar Ray - Every Morning
John Mellencamp - Jack and Diane
Otis Redding - Dock of the Bay

I need more, people. Help!

Here's some whistlers for you. They could also all be saved for an upcoming "Songs that totally succk" theme day:

Don't Worry, Be Happy - Bobby McFerrin
Winds of Change - Scorpions
Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard - Paul Simon.

The Cure's "Close to Me" is supposed to have hand claps in it, but I'm pretty sure they're a crappy synth patch.

Buddy Holly's "Everyday" (I think that's what it's called) has no drums and a dude smacking his legs for the beat.

George Michael's "Faith" totally steals the Cure's "Close to Me" phony hand clap, so you can add that one to the list...

Good call on the Me and Julio. That's one rippin' whistle solo!

- Anything by Tilly & the Wall
- "The Magic Position" by Patrick Wolf is full of claps and footstomps (and no, I will not stop championing this song until it is a monster hit).

I'm sure I could think of more but I'm too panicked about buying airplane tickets to Germany & Finland.

Peter Bjorn & John brought whistling back! And Andrew Bird, a champion whistler.

Hand claps? J. Geils' "Freeze Frame" of course! I love the Tom Waits's song "Clap Hands" but I don't think he claps on it. I know he snaps on an earlier song, something from Nighthawks at the Diner, probably.

I just found a cheat for hand clap songs here. Don't look if you want to guess first!

Pretty much all BOAT songs, but specifically "Birds in the Stall"

Did you know there is an Aqueduct song that incorperates the mouth-trumpet? I think thats impressive

The Shins - Kissing the Lipless starts out with clapping. On the flip side, Yacht Dance by XTC ends with some. Twisting by They Might Be Giants does a better job of keeping the clapping going for the whole song. The claps in the Postal Service's version of Such Great Heights are synth but they were sampled from a real clap at some point right?

i was going to say Tilly and the Wall - Sing Songs Along but someone already mentioned TATW

Doesn't Paul McCartney whistle about while Natalie Portman dances all see-thru like?

Fiest's "Sea Lion Woman" off of her new The Reminder CD has a fun clappy song.

Oh, and, of course, the Addam's Family Theme Song!

I see what happened up above (Comments 10 and 11).... I hit Post Comment twice. (In case anyone else runs into the broken record of duplicate comments....)

The Small Change's Truth Be Told" has handclaps from start to finish.

You guys rock the imaginary house. I think this theme day might have to run into two days.

Magic Moments - Perry Como (well, Burt Bacharach) I'm 99.9% positive there's some serious whistling in the intro
and The Blob! - (can't remember the recording artist, but it's definitely another early Bacharach/David tune)... Heck The Blob has that funny finger-in-the-mouth-popping-sound! I love it...
I'm kinda surprised I didn't see any mention of that Death Cab song, Sound of Settling? Or maybe it's just called Settling? hmm... either way I remember there being lots of foot stomps and hand claps all over the place.

Would any song by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah count? Theoretically it works, right?

Best whistling song:

"You Can Call me Al" from Paul Simon's Graceland.

I can't believe I didn't think of it earlier since I'm going to that show tonight: the Pipettes "Your kisses are wasted on me".

dang!

Is it poor form to recommend one's own songs? I have one called "Robots Are Real, They Are All Around You, and They Are Coming For You Right Now" that has some sweet hand-clapping. It's the last song on this album here: http://www.virb.com/levifuller/music/albums/14052

There's a great Pufferfish song with lots of hand-clapping, but it's actually not on their album, so I guess you'll have to wait for it.

Walk like an Egyptian. Whistling, word.

And The Go Team have to have some clapping in there somewhere.
