Stewart Copeland thinks the Police suck
Submitted by Erik Gonzalez on June 1, 2007.From the get-go, you had the impression this would all end badly, and well, its beginning to look that way.
Stewart Copeland, drummer for the reformed Police, pretty much thinks his band sucks. My favorite is Stewart referring to Sting as a "petulant pansy". Based on this report, though, the Police might be out-Tapping the soon-to-be-revived Spinal Tap (who might be adding - gasp! - Ricky Gevais to their lineup!)

I attended the second Seattle show June 7. Gawd how I hate Key Arena. The acoustics are soul-crushingly shitty. Stewart Copeland is the hardest working man in show business. Listen to Police albums with new ears like I did, you'll see what I mean. Andy Summers forgot to plug in his guitar for about half the songs. So it was bass and Stew..."hey honey, what's missing here? Can't quite put my finger on it. But I think it's the..I don't know...GUITAR?!" Still some work in store to get rid of the kinks, it would appear. But it's not for lack of equipment. There must be a bazillion dollars worth of lighting and video equipment there. Personally, I get all smirky when I've spent plenty green on tickets and am then reduced to watching video screens. I can do that at home (as if I'd have time!)
So put me up front with the partying people, maybe I would have a different review. But of course the front 2/3 of these big venues are filled with...what? Roadies comp tickets? Sting's wife's new age friends? Geeziz.

The Police SUCK... Stewart Copeland (Drummer, for those that don't know)... SUCKS... Andy SUCKS! Stings ROCKS...
Copeland is just showing his true colors once again. He blames Andy and Sting and takes zero responsibility for his own mistakes. Dial it down dude!!!
Saw the Denver 6/9 concert.. It was a bad… it was real bad. The masses have no clue, either because they were drunk or they don’t “understand” music. I think it could of been a two-person band concert and it would of been A LOT better. That 60 something guy needs to go. During the concert I was thinking this was a pity concert tour for Stewart and Andy... Sting is simply helping them put some money in the bank. I made my donation - now I’m done.

Call it what you will - the Miami concert was GREAT! Stewart slammed on the skins as usual! No anomosity in sight - who cares if they hate each other off stage (so did the Beatles) on stage they were fantastic - did I say three encores?????

Even though 'stewie' is ranting a bit (ok more than a bit), he's still right about Sting on every point. Glad I didn't waste my money on this sad 'non-reunion' tour of old farts who can't get it on anymore.

Is this Stewart Copeland?

I didn't argue your point about The Police. I, in fact, never addressed your statements about the band whatsoever — I merely meant to suggest that if you want people to read your posts and hear your opinion, whatever it may be, you'd benefit from turning off the caps lock, using punctuation, not calling people names, etc. Otherwise, people may perceive you as an inarticulate stooge with a victim complex who seems to think this site is somehow affiliated with The Police.
Just sayin'.
Stop shouting. Online TYPING IN ALL CAPS is considered shouting and is frowned on in most cases. In print, shouting is never worse than when it is done with decorative or script typefaces. It’s ugly. It’s hard to read. Just don’t do it, PLEASE!

Thank you once again for your suggestion the bottom line is a lot of people are dissapointed in the police shows and the amount of money it has cost them. Never at any stage did i suggest that this site is affiliated with the police. Maybe i flew off a bit at chris and i apologise to him, But this is a open site right where freedom of expression is allowed. People may percive me as a inarticulate stooge that's ok if you dont like caps on then dont read its simple. As yourself and mr gonzales are both employed by TIG as cd reviewers /rock critics may i suggest you get off the general public blog site otherwise people may perceive you as nosey no it all cd/rock critics who have no business here.Isnt it ironic that a big part of what you do as a cd reviewer/rock critic is about freedom of opinion freedom of expression, you see There is only one thing worse that a nosey know it all cd/rock critic that's two nosey know it all cd/rock critics
just sayin'

What is going on here?
Do you think its the band's fault that the sund sux in the stadium??????
Its crazy to think that, and shows no knowledge whatsoever about what goes on to put a show like this together.
If you are going to sit in nose bleed section.... well you are not going to hear well and yes you're stuck to seeing the screens.
Dont expect Million Dollar results for budget tickets. I understand we all work hard for our money, but thats the way things are. Cost effective sometimes yields poor performance. Now back to the musicians.... If anyone has payed attention to Sting, Stewart and Andy's careers post The Police, you'd realize that they all went on to have VERY successful careers, that you like their stuff or not it does not matter, they moved on. They've made their money, and if you'd actually pay atention to what the band says, they NEVER hated eachother, they faught for the music. Are you Married? ever been in a relationship? ever faught? still care for the partner? its normal, these guys toured the world, slept in crappy hotels, crammed in vans, couldnt go home and stretch out for a day or 2, Hell I'd be grumpy too. You'd be grumpy too. So.......
Didnt like the concert?...well hell it must have not been your day. But 49,999 other fans liked it, for better or worse, went to the show, had a good time, and went on with their lives. Do you know how I know this? listen to the recordings, look at the ticket sales, read the news groups, the ones who hated the show, or felt like there needed to be a bigger payoff are very few. Music critics...... well what can I say..... keep doing what you do.... its just a job and a professional opinion. Whenever we go back to the 15th century and we return to burning books, music, people, and houses of worship then music critics will elevate to some kind of "Cardinal consultant", thats when what they say will really matter, in the mean time, most people who feel the the freedom will go to shows, buy music, write more music, and get the T-Shirts....
BTW, Since Sting, Stewart, and Andy have been playing music for the past 23+ years after The Police, they have become MUCH BETTER musicians, some of you guys have become worse listeners.....
