Justin Timberlake forms record label

(taken directly from this article)

Justin Timberlake has joined forces with a rival music company to launch his own label, Tennman Records.

The Los Angeles-based label -- whose name pays tribute to Timberlake's home state of Tennessee -- will operate as a joint venture with Interscope Records. Timberlake will serve as chairman and CEO, a statement said.

As an artist, Timberlake is signed to Jive Records, a unit of Sony BMG Music Entertainment. Interscope, meanwhile, is a unit of Universal Music Group.

Tennman will announce its first signings in the next few weeks, a statement said. Former Sony BMG talent scout Ken Komisar will serve as president.

This is interesting because I read an article in the last six months or so that Timberlake was putting efforts into reviving the Stax label. In fact, I just googled and found that he was apparently (or maybe still is) thinking of buying both Stax and Sun. See this blog.

In general Justin is a guilty pleasure of mine. So, keep the JT news coming. ;)

A year or so ago, we hosted a "Guilty Pleasures BBQ". Basically everyone brought a couple of their guilty pleasure songs, we played all of the songs and had to guess who brought what. It was really fun. And Justin Timberlake was on my mix.

Yes. We still listen to the compilation CD at work. Every time Shakira comes on, I think of you. ;)
