West Seattle bar Skylark to celebrate first birthday party

Skylark CafeThe Skylark Cafe, West Seattle's premiere live show venue, is about to celebrate its first birthday! The venue has hosted over 340 live bands in its first year of existence, and from what we hear, has fabulous Tuesday night karaoke as well. I can't believe it's been nearly an entire year since the venue opened and I still haven't checked it out (but that's what a Ballard to West Seattle commute will get ya. If I lived on the other side of the WS bridge, I fear I'd move in).

Here's the schedule of events for the big day, June 2:

BIRTHDAY BASH SCHEDULE

  • 9:00am to 3:00pm Made-to-order brunch
  • 5:00pm to 8:00pm Karaoke hosted by Matthew Darling, Skylark's vivacious general manager
  • 9:00pm to 1:00am Awesome local bands The Delusions, Brent Amaker & The Rodeo, Amy Stolzenbach, and Electrochakra

Congrats to Jessie and Matthew Darling and the other fine folks at Skylark!

dana-
we were amazed at how easy it was to get to when we played there... i'm sad more seattle folks don't include the skylark as a 'local' venue... it's seriously not any longer of a drive from ballard than capital hill... you hop on aurora get off on the west seattle bridge, first exit, and it's practically under the bridge. it's faster than going crosstown.

you should go. it's a great place. the food is killer. the people are super friendly. it reminds me of austin clubs. (it's a little bit of a boxy/bright sounding room, but i'm sure they'll dial that in)

I know, right? Once you're in Ballard, it's really hard to rally to go elsewhere... but I know this trip is long overdue!

I love the Skylark. The first show I attended there was Young Sportsmen and Megasapien last fall, and I thought it just had a super friendly, cozy "hang out" kind of vibe. And someone who lives on the northern neck of the woods, it's a bit harder for me to get to than any in-town venue. But, it's worth the drive.
