Blur drummer runs for office... the UK scores again!
Submitted by imaginary liz on April 10, 2007.This just announced on BBC.com: Dave Rowntree, Blur drummer, is running for office!
The former computer engineer whose extra-curricular activities outside of Blur include owning an animation company, has announced he is to run for a seat on Westminster Council on May 3, 2007.
Mr Rowntree, who is standing for Labour, admits he faces a tough fight to get onto the Tory-held council. But he said he wanted to address the extreme deprivation in some parts of one of England's richest boroughs.
Blur frontman Damon Albarn was among musicians seen as endorsing New Labour before 1997 - but has since become an outspoken critic of the government. He reportedly declined one invitation to 10 Downing Street with a note saying: "I am no longer a New Labour supporter. I am now a Communist. Enjoy the schmooze, comrade."
Good luck Dave! Can I get one of those commemorative buttons?

Don't get no vote. Nowhere, nohow.
Can't vote in UK after 15 years or more off the electoral register. Overseas voters don't get to vote in council elections anyway, so Mr. Rowntree will have to do it without my help.
Also can't vote in Canada (I'm from everywhere) only the clock runs out there after just 5 years.
You Bas***ds...!!!
