Aspiring rockstars in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Vancouver: LOOK ALIVE! Former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker is taking request for supporting bands for these cities on this Spring 2007 tour.
Want to apply? Simply post to his MySpace blog and tell him in your most charming way why your band (or your favorite band) should have the honors.
For Seattle, my first wishlist requests include:
What do you think? Post your ideas below, and go vote for your favs!

I think each of these bands you've suggested should be required to take a test on the rise (and fall) of Brit Pop. If Slender Means can't give a detailed history of Alan McGee or Shake Some Action can't tell us who Pete Astor is and the historical significance of 'Up The Hill And Down The Slope,' then there's no way they deserve to open for Jarvis Cocker! Let's be honest here.

If you want a band that can compliment (and heck, back up) Jarvis, look no further than the Bon Savants (conveniently you can by listening to March's AstroPop podcast) ...
Now that would be a great show.

I think the Divorce should open for Jarvis Cocker - arguably the best British pop/rock band to ever come from Seattle.

Banner Barbados. Banner freaking Barbados.
Whatever happened to Banner Barbados? They haven't logged into their Myspace page since January, and absolutely no one knows them since they never play. But LISTEN TO "Since You Caught My Eye"--the best single of at least 3 months of 2005 far as I'm concerned. Then they disappeared. But damn if they don't make good on their claim to be "Dylan-esque Bowie channeling the Velvets on X". I loved that part of the press release.
Listen here
Are they, Aveo, and The Prom just floating around Lake Washington somewhere, not playing music anymore? Maybe I'm just selfish when I say, "Quit the day job, rack up some credit card debt and put out a record! I'll fund each of you three bands 100 dollars (retroactively) should you release something in the next year...and none of this 'digital only' shit! 7 inches! Hand painted CD-Rs! Let's go!"
There. I'm done.

I'll chip in another $50 per band!

I think "arguably" is the key word here considering The Divorce won't even be a footnote in Seattle music history.

Yes, but the track "The Man Moan" should be in a time capsule.

I have to agree. The Divorce may have written one digestible song but they are ultimately pretty forgettable.
