Tonight's Recommend Show: Apples in Stereo, Casper & The Cookies, The Explorers Club at Neumo's
Submitted by imaginary liz on March 29, 2007.
We here at imaginary headquarters are quite jazzed to have the Apples in Stereo in town tonight. We've been using their album, New Magnetic Wonder as 'get up and go' music for weeks now. The song "Can You Feel It?" really tears up the pre-coffee rug in the mornings. There's no telling what's going to happen when they launch into at the show tonight. Not to mention the song "Energy," which makes listeners repeat the line "And the world / is made of energy" at least 40 times in a row. It's true--catchy, happy songs result in a repetitive action.
It will be exciting to see how the Apples translate the album's heavy duty ELO influence live. I just hope the person manning the lights tonight are ready to kick it disco style! It's going to be an all-ages Apples dance party!

Is anyone else going to see Veruca Salt at El Corazon tonight? Also tig you have that show on your calendar twice, I mean I know its good but you can probably just list it once, LOL!

D'oh -- fixed! The offending second listing will disappear from our calendar feed within the hour. Thanks for the tip, and have fun tonight. Make sure you catch Thee Emergency too...

And in case anyone hasn't visited the Apples in Stereo website recently, you can listen to Apples songs (for free) all day long and prep for their Seattle show tonight. More synth voice, please!
Note:
And the world / is made of energy
(repeat)

Sorry, but Casper and the Cookies were horrible. I mean they didn't lack energy or a stage presence or even interesting stage props... but the songs, oi, i am a huge music fan and go to shows at least a couple times a week, but these guys i walked out of, it didn't help that their predecessors were even worse. but the apples slayed.

I'd rather repeat:
It's the same old drag / oh you know you don't need none of that
Even though the Apples are anything but a drag. I am 'round the twist over New Magnetic Wonder (and totally regret missing last week's Neumo's show)...

This show sounds incredible. I'm sure Apples in Stereo will be their effervescent awesome selves, but I'll also really curious about Casper and the Cookies. I'm a fan of all things Athens/Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records, so I'd definitely like a full report from all you lucky peeps at Neumo's tonight (sadly, I can't make it).
