Bring on the Bumbershoot voting and vegetarian corndog stands!
Submitted by imaginary liz on March 21, 2007.The folks over at Bumbershoot are now taking VOTES! I've waited all year to voice my opinion and have tried to figure out who I need to send a memo to in order to let the Bumbershoot planners know that they should have Northern State and The Trucks perform. Also, a spoken word peptalk from Andrew WK would be neat too. Oh, and can I proclaim my love for Matt and Kim again?
Is there anyone I can petition to get a vegetarian corn dog stand?
Go vote and bring your favorite band/comedian/performance artist to the 'Shoot!

Aren't you BFFs by now? You should just email her. Think she 'd like to join us for some Rickshaw Karaoke?

Vegetarian ANYTHING would be welcome. Also, hi! Looks great!

and i am fully committed to cancelling out your votes! :)
andrew wk? really?

I bet Amy digs karaoke!!!
Amy Winehouse singing "Livin' on a Prayer" and I would die a happy imaginary girl.

I second you on the negating the Andrew WK. I'm hoping Liz wrote that in a diet Mountain Dew haze while prepping the site to go live and she already regrets her words.
Don't you, Liz?

well, i've previously noted my distaste for the other acts mentioned :) the new one jumped out at me.
northern state & the trucks - a NO & HELL NO i can actually support... as promised, give me the keys to the blog, and the snark won't be far behind.

Hahahah! We do heart the Sera(tone)n snark.
My votes went to:
- Amy Winehouse
- Idlewild
- Shake Some Action
- Sleeping in the Aviary
- The Fratellis
Bring it, ST. Rip 'em to shreds... ;)

well, as i said, amy winehouse just doesn't work for me, as with most motown or motown-inspired artists. there's no question she has a great voice; just wish it was put to use on something i could enjoy.
big fan of both idlewild & shake some action, and i see your plan to get the former to seattle somehow! :)
keep hearing about aviary, but haven't checked them out yet.
now, come on... list something as generically banal as the fratellis & i'll just think you're taunting me into a response :) really, i haven't heard more than a couple of songs, but i don't understand the sudden hype other than the repeated exposure to the ipod commercial. apple. meh.

if we vote enough, think we can get the smiths to reunite? play up the veggie corndog angle - it should attract the mozzer.

Normally I'm right there with you on the anti-Motown thing. But I adore Amy Winehouse. She's so good, she's genre-altering for me.
And just because a band plays eight times at SXSW and gets an iPod commercial doesn't mean they're not worthy. I for one heart the Fratellis after seeing them twice at SXSW. But then, I did proclaim at the festival that they were this year's Tapes N Tapes (for the frequency of their shows, not so much for their sound). But either way -- seems fitting that you wouldn't like 'em after a pronouncement like that. ;)
Imaginary sero(tone)in said on March 23, 2007:
agreed, the amount of shows they play, or that they have a commercial, isn't a reason for dislike. that they're not any good is reason enough :p

How many votes do you think it will take to get Amy Winehouse to come here and let me stalk her in my hometown...? ;)
