(Chop Suey) Blue Light Curtain takes Velvet Underground's drone and makes it their own, it's application in the finest fashion. The drone is there in its impending and tension-building presence, but it's met with a shoegazed drift and a Korg drum machine. In "Let's Run" a distorted kick and snare drum pound with starts and stops of guitars then recede for vocals. Paul Groth sings, "The time has come for me to run as far away as I can." It's hollow and distilled. His-and-her harmonies couple and evenly glide, minor chords rhythmically strum. The song grows until the end, where all is gone but the distorted kick and snare you started with. The song returns, having traveled a great distance. TRENT MOORMAN

"...live remind me variously of Slowdive, 4AD records, Lee Hazelwood, Explosions in the Sky, and Brian Eno. Laura Bratton, the primary vocalist, sings in a style that would be readily familiar to fans of the aformentioned 4AD Records and dreampop music; ethereal and somewhat detached, but in spite of that aloof sound, she manages to really engage the crowd. There's a warmth there often lacking in the genre that's very comforting and more than a little sexy." JimiC THREE IMAGINARY GIRLS
"Ten dollars says Blue Light Curtain were paying attention to the winter's recent dark days and pissing rain, because much like favorite repetitive guitar riffers/effects pedal enthusiasts My Bloody Valentine (or any other band that has helped you survive a midwinter breakup), this Seattle trio captures the mood of our city's gray life pretty damn well. Hopefully their set tonight will be a hair too loud for the meek; earplugs will only cheapen the experience." GRANT BRISSEY/THE SEATTLE STRANGER
"Shoegaze bands never want to be called that, but that's what Blue Light Curtain—admittedly influenced by MBV, Eno, M83, Galaxie 500, and Lynch/Badalamenti (!)—are. And they're very good at what they do. The hazy "When the Sun Hits" guitar walls, heavily processed vocals, and dueling male/female voices are all there, and their new self-released disc, The Static Interrupts Our Dream, would sound perfectly lovely in a carousel stocked with any of the aforementioned bands. The new material has garnered the four-year-old trio (quartet, if you count their Korg Electribe ES-1, which they do) some attention on UW's RainyDawg radio and a slot on KEXP's live Audioasis back in October. Now, though, during the endless night and ever-present mist of winter, is the ideal time to revisit—or wallow in—the densely dreamy sounds that only a band like BLC can provide." | About blue light curtain |
"Every few years, little NW bands start to pop up with individual styles but a strong common element. This can vary from guitar tone to politics to the latest craze I'll call "indie pro": small electronic collectives who regard production as an additional band member. Cock and Swan (whose producer appears in band photos), the Braille Tapes (a production team who enlist musicians for shows), and shoegazers Blue Light Curtain are creating a tech-infused wave that will have A&R reps salivating. The biggest winners in this musical movement could be local pioneers Voyager ONe and the Turn-Ons, whose longevity has them poised to be the Melvins and Mudhoney of a burgeoning scene."--Ma'Chell Duma Lavassar, THE STRANGER

We've been a band now for 4 (four) years. We've been played on RainyDawg Radio and KEXP's Audioasis recently (OCT '06). Sky, Laura and Paul are pals and love playing music together. Paul is the biggest "girl" in the band. Email us if you need directions to Old Folks Home.....................
OUR CD IS NOW AVAILABLE AT: EASY STREET RECORDS IN QUEEN ANNE, SONIC BOOM (CAP HILL & BALLARD), EVERYDAY MUSIC (CAP HILL), WALL OF SOUND (CAP HILL) AND AT OUR GIGS (YOU CAN ALSO CONTACT US FOR A COPY). PRICE $8.00. SOON IT WILL BE AVAILABLE AT OTHER CD STORES IN TOWN. STAY TUNED.
This is our fourth band member. She's a little touchy these days due to the fact that we forget to do things like 1) include her in the liner notes 2)introduce her to the other bands we play with and 3) forget to give her drink tickets.
