Band Bio
Birds of Wales are garnering the attention of fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Known for great songwriting and outstanding live performances. Within months of playing their first show together, the band had headlined to sell-out audiences at notable venues, released a self-titled CD in Canada to strong, positive reviews, had Ralph James of the The Agency Group pick them up for representation, and played the first of several successful tours in Europe.
Tracks from Birds of Wales' first CD received regular airplay on Canadian commercial & college radio, and have been broadcast across North America on XM and Sirius Satellite Radio. In fact, My Lady; in July was the most played song on "The Verge," XM's new music station, in June 2006. Birds of Wales has also earned the attention of fans in Europe, releasing their Fall of the 49 CD in the UK and Spain on Invisible Hands Music (Thomas Dolby, The JAM) following three successful European tours in nine months time. The first single from this disc, Cinderella (Has Nothing on You), was featured on a compilation CD - 560,000 copies of which were distributed throughout Ireland earlier this year. The video for Cinderella also spent several weeks in rotation on MuchMoreMusic in Canada.
This past September, Birds of Wales finished their summer touring season with a spot at Toronto's Virgin Festival. In November the band headed to Vancouver's Mushroom Studios with producer Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, Kelly Rowland) to record their second album that is due out in North America later this year. Following the recording the band took part in this years SXSW conference prior to heading back across the Atlantic for another tour or the UK and Europe.
Birds are currently playing dates around Canada while preparing to set off again for the shores of Europe in Mid August for a combination of support and headline shows.
The show Thursday was great - worth missing Grey's for(AGAIN)! :) Tried to comment on your new video too, but it didn't work. It's great, thanks for putting it up.
Have a great weekend, travel safe to Montreal, have a blast and have a smoked meat sandwich for me :) Laura :)
my vote is for the re-posting option but if it will make you happy i can think about being tempted in to your shameless tactics and purchasing it sometime in the near future
yes, it would be nice to organize a gig here ... My goal here now is to try stop teaching and make the mayor of the town build a M.J.C (maison de la jeunesse) . i'll apply to run it.. he has to be quick ... I want to spend my last working years running this M.J.C and be an old lady in rock and roll!!! Cheers... xx hélène
You sirs, need to make your way south of the border, preferably to wherever I am b/c for those of us that aren't fortunate enough to live in Canada at the moment it's getting to be annoying hearing about the great shows.
Urgh I knew it! Glad it went well though I shall also be missing Noah and the whale , as I fly home the day of. If you ever need live band performance shots, let me know.
Hey Guys! See youve travelled with Xavier Rudd! Thats so cool! He is a talented musician! Great to see you guys are doing so shmashingly! Looking good yeah!
I'm really loving the new songs. Can't wait for some more :). I think it'd be cool if you did a cover one week, maybe of some City and Colour *nudge nudge*.
Anyway, how's life? It's starting to get cold around here.
cool you will have to prewarn me s that i can check it out. perhaps show you the lovely sites of england-hmmm. Blackpool- well i dont mean to be honest but not a great deal but its home for now. It has a few tourist attractions for example a tower, a couple of piers, a theme park and the usual scallywags but its a bit quirky. How about you, where is home? xxx
Busy schedule. Very exciting though. I live in Blackpool, the closest place that i could imagine you playing is Manchester. So you've been over to the UK? I would say how exciting, yet its not. When you next here? Joy x
