Commercial radio sucks. Don’t lie to yourself; even if you work for Clear Channel, you know this. Back in the day, DJs played requests! Today, a computer program programs radio. Humans love music. Computers do not. You don’t have to be Bob Lefsetz to know this. He blames the music industry as a whole and it’s much easier to blame the crutch of innovation. Think about it. While innovation advances ideas, it dissolves the human touch. Humans require a human touch! The same can be said about music. When is the last time commercial radio moved you like it did when you were a teenager? Where is the human touch in today’s programming? Where is the love in today’s music? The love is right here, you jerks! Are you listening to The Shore yet? Chances are that if you have made it this far down the band’s bio, you have also received a copy of The Shore’s debut CD. Put that shit on and feel the love, Jordache! Here is a band that loves music more than money and blowjobs. They love Neil Young. They Love The Verve. They love what is old and what is new. They love what is saturated in the roots of music’s fertile soil as well as what the possibilities of studio innovation offer, so long as the blend is healthy and human, dig? The Shore is hope, not hype. They could save radio from the onslaught of modern mediocrity! They are hip and handsome young men, so on the surface you could say that they’re magazine perfect and that all the girls will want to take them home and that all the boys will want to look like them or beat them up. But hopefully, humans in general will recognize the human love put into these exquisite songs that were produced by Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Miranda Lee Richards) . Front man Ben Ashley’s buttery voice kisses song melodies to life. They stay in your head all day long and he doesn’t need any oily post grunge vocal gymnastics to do this like all those cheesy guys out there who can turn the word "me" into "meeeeeeeeeeyah-yah-yaaaawlright!" His singing whispers to you under the sheets and calls out to you in the night, kind of like Ian Brown’s voice did on that first Stone Roses album--not that this band needs an anglophile audience--they bring something honest to the table that can be loved by every human. That pointy scenester kid who snubs you at the record shop is going to dig The Shore because they rock and they are for real. The ‘tween girl down the street who watches The OC is going to adore them because their catchy songs speak of a universal love that she can only dream about. Grown men and women are going to love them because there is honest-to-goodness life and love in these songs, rather than the "down on my knees and begging you please" tripe dished out by everyone trying to be the new White Stripes. Even jaded music critics are going to talk them up and if you don’t believe this by now, perhaps you should realize that it was a jaded music critic who wrote this very bio. The Shore plays real music for real humans like you. They are coming from a life-after-jaded place, and they make you want to be there with them.
