Nice descriptive review, Andrew. I would disagree with the rating -- but then I adore the band's subtle, idiosyncratic charms. This album in particular I truly believe any fans of Elvis Costello, Richard & Linda Thompson, Grandaddy, and other sublimely distinctive singer-songwriter styled artists at their best would delight in. You might find yourself playing it through till the end of the year (and beyond) when you make your Best Of list (as I did with their previous record, "Radar").
