I heard them live on KEXP and was not impressed. Actually, I turned it off.
Sub Pop has quality bands on their roster, and some bands with quality first albums. They don't direct or influence their bands' sound... they just let them create and do their thing. So yea, while the new Band of Horses leaves a lot to be desired, bands like Pissed Jeans, Tiny Vipers, Chad Van Gaalen, The Thermals etc. are exciting in their own individual ways.
