She's right. American music is crap if your exposure to it is via Rolling Stone magazine, MTV (what's left of video programming) and Top 40 radio. I think that's the point she's trying to make, that what's being fed to most of America is all this "crap," and that bands mentioned in some TIG replies (Bright Eyes, Gossip, etc.) are hard to find, especially when you're not lucky enough to live in a coastal city.
Thank your lucky stars you don't live in Arkansas, because if you did, your favorite "indie rock" band may be Fallout Boy.
