Okay, so glad we all agree the Goodness show was incredible as always...they may need consider changing the name to Greatness! The music and lyrics are still totally relavent, the dynamic on stage was great and of course Carrie still rocks the mic. I too followed them throughout the 90s between Olympia and Bellingham and will definitely be at the Mural Amphitheatre show!
To put the superfan incident to bed...
I met John before the show too and he seemed nice but high. He also warned me about his moshing which would have been fine, except he was doing it while grabbing onto the girls in the front row - including me. At first he was just squeezing our shoulders, but was doing it so hard it was painful. Then he seemed to be trying to grab at our chests, was calling us so beautiful, and eventually grabbed our asses!
Since all attempts to push and shove John off us failed, I tried to motion for security several times - thank you for nothing Showbox, the guard was backstage seemingly doing nothing but ignoring me. Someone needed to do something, I was about a second from punching John in the face myself when a girl (friend of Johns?) came from no where and started getting into it with me! I think Garth saw what was up. Garth yelled at John (inaudibe to me) and flipped him off. John then grabbed my near empty beer bottle from the stage and threw it at Garth. It nearly hit him but instead got beer on Garths jeans. Thats when Garth jumped off stage and got the guy out of there. The girl seemed to go away too and after that we only had to deal with the usual moshers - no more grabbing onto our body parts.
I saw John out front after the show and my husband wanted to continue the conversation Garth had started, but I wouldnt tell him which guy it was to avoid another fight. I suspect this John guy was on X or something a tad harder than booze...I have never had anything like this happen at a show, especially Goodness! Like Carrie said - they do have the best fans...high energy, there to have a good time...not usually at the expense of anyone else. No matter what, I was not going to let anyone spoil the show for me and Garth - our hero - made sure that happened! Love the Goodness!
